Help with strain and first-time setup

Before I begin, I'd like to thank everyone who contributes on these forums; they are a fantastic source of information for beginners such as myself. Secondly, I'd like to apologise, as even though I've looked, I'm sure my questions have already been answered previously.

So I've decided it's about time to attempt growing a pot plant. As for what strain of weed, I'm still unsure. When I chop up, I look for a cerebral high whereby I can still function as a normal member of society (and not like some down-syndromed retard). From doing a bit of research it seems that Sativa is the right path for that. From that I've found either AK-47/8, White Widow (I know it's of Indica origin, but hey - it's apparently fucking good), and Northern Lights/Haze are likely possibilities (in terms of price as well). So first question: What would you honestly recommend? I'm looking to grow 1-2 plants recreationally, so yield is of little concern to me. Because of limitations (explained below) I'm more concerned with height and odor.

Where I live in subtropic Australia, summer is now upon us which means days 35C/95F degree heat, and frequent rain/thunderstorms. Because of this I'd rather have my set up indoors, for the obvious reasons. Only problem is being indoors means having to be stealthy Unless I build something more suitable, I've got a wooden box type of thing that I can convert for the task. It's dimensions are roughly 65cm(W)x65cm(D)x80cm(H) or 2'(W)x2'(D)x32'(H). Would this be large enough? If not, what dimensions would I require? I've also had a look around at a lot of lighting, and the general concensus is that HPS is the way to go, especially for flowering. Due to a moderate restriction in funds, coupled with this being my first time growing, I was wondering if it still worthwhile looking at getting a HPS for so few plants? Failing that, my primary choice would be to use a combination of fluorescent lights (standard cool/warm combo, maybe with a widespectrum light if that's possible for the flowering phase) for the length of the cycle. What would be a good recommendation? I'm not a tight ass but if it is actually worth getting some intense lights for 1-2 plants, I'd definately consider it. Also would air vents on the side of the box be suitable, or should I look for a fan?

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Well to start off, growing outdoors isn't completely out of the question for you. There are various strains (Durban Poison is the only strain that comes to mind) that are able to handle high heat. For a box that small, 2 plants is possible, but will be very tough especially if trying to grow from seed. If you can get ahold of some clones, or start some plants outdoors, then snip some clones from them, results would be much easier.

Reason being: clones can be flowered immediately and finish around 12"-18". Small cabs can create a lot of heat, but also be ventialted easily. You will definitely need an exhaust system. Put some holes in the bottom of the box, then place some computer fans toward the top of the cabinet and this should be enough.

Lighting - Yes, HPS is the way to go (however, now there's all kinds of shit about LED's and I'm starting to get dumbfounded with research). But for your space restrictions I;d suggest a large watt compact fluorescent.

Strain - This is totally your choice. I would suggest an indica because they are short and bushy. But if you want the cerebral high of a sativa, then I would suggest a 50/50 sativa/indica hybrid.

Hope this helps. Anything I didn;t cover or if you want to know more, you know what to do.

i agree with him.. get some CFLs hps will be to hot for that space... im pretty sure that NL is pure indica... also everyone whos tryed it has nothing to say but good things... other then that i would practice some LST to keep em short.. or try your hand at cloning... fans are a must try to get atleast 3000 lumens per plant but more will always make your plants turn out better
