Hempy bucket growing questions.

I'm sure this method has been around longer than I know, but I'm just recently discovering it and its fasinating to me. I'm currently growing out some mothers which should be large enough to clone in 2-3 weeks. I planned on doing a coco grow but the hempy seems ideal.

I do have some questions though.
1.) Are bucket/container sizes similar to soil/coco plants? For example if I vegged for 2 weeks in coco/soil I'd use a 2 gallon pot. Would the same veg time to pot size apply to hempy bucket grown plants?

2.) as its my understanding, you only need to water the plant when the bottom water level is depleted enough that the plant begins to show signs of dehydration. I guess similar to soil. ? Or would you want to water more often to replenish the bottom water with new nutes, and drench the roots that aren't submerged. I only ask because I read a detailed explanation of hempy systems and the guy said he would water about once a week once the roots reached the bottom water res.

3.) and lastly, the thread I read also stated that adjusting ph was not necessary. Which seems bizarre. I know a lot of nutrient companies hav ph buffered nutrients but if you add some other additive it could throw off the ph substantially causing all types of deficiencies.

Water every two to three days or when bucket is light....pH ur water to around 6 (5.8-6.2)...and I use 2.5 gal buckets...this run I vegged for a month and they did good...different concept then soil....its not bad to be root bound in a Hempy....that's just wut I do....

Nevermind, I just found a useful thread that pretty much answered my questions. All except the ph issue.

Even if you don't have to ph your water, lets say you do. Since its "hydro", I'd imagine an ideal ph would be 5.6 or so. But say you don't have to water your hempy bucket for days on end (3-6 days), wouldn't the ph of your solution fluctuate? And if it did there's no real way to adjust that water other than watering the bucket with new solution, which could lead to over watering right? This concept just seems strange to me

So when it was time for you to water, was your water level pretty much down to nothing? And if it was, is that pretty much how you would determain it's time to water? Or would the perlite retain water as well allowing you an extra day or so after the bottom water level was gone ? I can't imagine perlite retaining much water at all if any.

Hempy is simple ....don't over complicate it lol
Yea I know. I'm an OCDish kind of person when it comes to trying something new. I need to know as much as I can before I try it. But I can't imagine it being any harder than my rdwc was. Thanks for the tips

All I do when they are young, I just tilt the pot to see if water comes out the hole if so it's fine, if not I water.

When I start tieing them to the wall of weed, I'm just going to water every day until I see it come out the hole. Once it starts coming out I stop watering.
