Herbal Overdoser's Guerilla Grow 2009

Hey Everyone,
I'm new to the site, only been here a few times, just joined today. I'm 18, have been growing for 5 summers now, but wasn't ever serious until last year. I've never had a harvest, for various reasons. (First 3 years plants all died or where eaten before they made it to Veg. Last year, I almost started crying when I discovered my plants missing the day I went to harvest)

So, this year I'm going all the way. I have the knowledge to do it, and the resources, and I'm building a covert greenhouse in the woods to grow 9 lowryder 2 hybrid strains(either dieselxlowryder2 or ak47xlowryder2)

Sounds kind of crazy, well let me explain. I am digging a hole (3'W x 4'D x 3'L), then I'll fill the bottom two feet of the hole with an organic mix of soil, and a layer of perlite and newspaper on the bottom for drainage. The next two feet of space will remain a hole, and this is where my little autoflowers will grow. Above the hole their will be about 10" of space open for drafts and then the top will be covered in a greenhouse fabric material, that will keep the plants safe and shaded. This top will be removable for access to the plants, and hteir will be fishline rapped around all 4 corners so no small creatures decide to make my greenhouse their house.


The writing on the bottom is notes for me. I plan on using happy plant organic plant food, and am thinking about doing a durban grow as well, so I can have a few full size plants in another location.

I appreciate the thought, as I hadn't thought of this, but it barely ever rains in the summer here. And this is still the ground, theirs no bottom underneath the dirt and perlite, so it should all drain out nicely

has no one ever tried something like this?

I'd like to elaborate on your idea possibly, anytime it rains reguardless the hole is going to fill with water, consider insulating your hole completely except for a drainage hole at the bottom, make the roof solid so rain doesnt come in and have your ventilation flowing from the sides. Also be sure to build in a place slightly elevated in comparison to the immediate surrounding area so during rains water wont collect and pour into your hole.

ok, thanks...I saw in another thread on here a portable greenhouse the right size for $60, so I'm planning on buying one of those and putting it in my hole.
If the hole is going to flood with water, how would sealing it off and adding a drainage hole help? why not leave it open with perlite and newspaper in the bottom, and then soil on top?
I'll probably do it your way, I just don't understand how that works out better? I'm not looking to get damaged roots you know..

What your not taking into account is the sidewalls of your hole, when it rains they will be saturated with moisture and will continue to fill your hole reguardless of the drainage, consider how you dig a hole at the beach or near a shore where the water table is very shallow, once you dig about 2 feet your going to hit water and the water is going to continue to fill reguardless of how much you empty it. Its the same concept, I'm actually kind of intrigued by this idea because it could in alot of ways really improve the security of your grow. Lowkey enough that flyovers would be a nonissue, and small enough that a ripper is unlikely to detect.

What I'm planning on is digging a couple holes probably a little deeper since I wont have extra soil depth beneath, (idk how deep Dwarfs need to grow fullsize anyone?) carrying a bag of concrete/mortar to the site (I find weight to be less of an issue with hiking then bulk so this is alot easier then carrying oddlyshaped pieces of material.) mixing it onsite and fill the sides and bottom of my hole with circular holes for drainage, and finally painting the walls of the hole flat white for light reflection. This setup will also allow me to secure heavyduty latches and locks to the lexan container i plan to use as the lid. That way even if a ripper does find it, unless hes got some heavy duty tools all hes going to be able to do is sit there and cry

yours is really advanced idea, but now that explain the water situation I'l probabbly going to try and fill the hole with a large black trash bag (i think someone suggested this) and poke holes and fill the bottom with pebbles or perlite or something, then do it as planned...

Well I plan on prepping this next week as its my spring break, and I'll let you all know how it works out in terms of water issues etc.

Interesting idea but like some others said it's gonna flood when it rains. It doesn't matter if you put stones or a plastic bag or newspaper or whatever in the bottom, it's gonna flood. If you don't get rain it's no problem. If you could bury some drain tile (4 inch flexible black plastic pipe) and run it from the bottom of your hole to someplace that's lower than the bottom of your hole it wouldn't flood. You'd basicly be making a drain.

subscribed i like the idea of this "protected" garden in the wilderness!! i think im also gonna use a similar method!!
