HID light ballasts

Well I have made it through most of my first grow with CFLs and they are just not going to do the trick, so I am going to buy a 600w HPS light this week. The question I have for everybody is should I go with an electronic digital ballast or just a standard ballast? I am looking at getting a Future Brite Digital Electronic Ballast, or a Sun System X.

Does anybody have experience with either of these? I want something dependable and long lasting. Also I will be using it for three plants about 5-6 feet tall. I plan on using it out in a fairly large room. I plan on getting a very basic reflector so it will not be air cooled, I will just point my fan at it. Will this still get too hot? I plan to upgrade to a better reflector in a month or two for my second grow so I can stick it all back into the closet.

damn man sounds like you got the money for it so id say go for it. but ima standard kinda guy.got mine from HTG supply on E-bay(great place for supplys). 149.99 got 400w hps ballasts reflector and light. i would check them out before you go spending all that money.

hes right my 400 hps with hortiluxeye bulb which has more of the blue and green spectrum raises my temp in my 10 by 10 room 20 degrees,BUT FOR SURE GET A 600 IT HAS MORE LUMENS FOR THE DOLLAR ITS THE BEST BUY AS FOR LUMENS.I RUN A WINDOW A/C FULL BLAST BUT IM IN TEXAS AND IT WAS OVER 100 YEST.LOW THIS AM WAS 64 HIGH WAS 82 HOPE THIS HELPS.

haven't fired mine up yet, gotta pick it up from the fedex spot today. but i just snatched up a lumatek with an aircooled hood, i'll letchu know how that works when i start flowering my babies.
