High Temps

Well for those who dont know. I have a 4 x 2 x up to 6 ft closet w/ 400W MH. I would like to know how I can lower my temps 10 degrees it stays between 84-90 F & 30-40% humidity with light on most of the time, sometimes I can get it down but not for long periods of time. I was thinking about building an air cooled light holder and either venting thru the floor under the house trailer. It has brick around the base of the house. I would have to peel carpet back and make about a 4 inch hole and have some sort of screen or something so cats and other animals dont get in. Or I could vent it back into the room but I dont know if that would be worth it. Does anyone have any input on this? Or any other ideas on how to drop 10 degrees? I have a piece of cardboard with foil on it that is about 3 ft high in the doorway and the remaining 4 ft is open for air exchange and it is still hot.

if you vent out of your floor you will need to get some kind of filter too (unless you have no neighbors). maybe you should use the floor vent as an intake, pulling up the cool air instead. how bout a/c? you can use silk screen to cover the hole. you msy just want to remove the foil covered cardboard and put a fan there.
 
i though about moving the foil board but didnt want extra light getting out. I didnt think about using the floor as intake though. Do you think if I got a small computer fan or something like that and wired it to a small battery and just had it blowing upward that it would cool down enough. Im pretty sure that its alot cooler under there. Thanks for the quick response. I got some WW and Aurora seeds coming and would like to get all problems taken care of now
 
right now budget is pretty low. click on my gallery to see my half ass setup. my fan is in one of the pics. the so called foil covered door is not in the pics though. its a small round windchaser 8 in fan i believe not sure of the CFM. I was wondering if my light was good the way it is or should I turn it to get more light? not sure if you can tell by pics. thanks for input
 
read your other posts. so yesterday you say you can't mess things up too bad cuz you'll have to fix any holes in the wall? WTF? it sounds like you are holding yourself back. what did you buy seeds for? be honest with yourself about what you REALLY want, then these SIMPLE problems will disappear.
 
hot air rises. so seeing how you got that fan positioned i would say its just blowing hot air down at your plants.did you ever read up on requirements for adequate ventilation?

some others gave you great tips:

fan blowing on a 400w helps greatly. sometimes you need more help...

i find a pc fan venting into an inner wall at a high point in the closet helps out a little too.. this worked for my for some time, now that i have the area enclosed to maximize the light, my temps have been harder to control to..

you can always sacrifce the wall..
 
Dude at radio shack they have what "look" like computer fans, except instead of being 3" fans they are 4" fans, and rather than 12v they are 110v and are rated somewhere around 100cfm. This is an easy fix.

I bought at home depot a cheap bathroom exhaust fan for only $12.00 and it was a simle install, just a 3" hole and some screws.
This looks pleasing too.

Now you got to get back to basics, you need to focus more on "intake and exhaust" rather that just exhaust. I find a passive system works best, meaning a vent placed somewhere (usually low) to allow air intake, and a fan placed somewhere up high in the room to exhaust. This will also help you to replenish the co2 in the room as the plants use up what is there.

I did read alot, I have books and some more shit. The reason I dont have it pointing at my light is becuz its just hanging there and will blow all over the place but if that will help that much I can brace it somehow. And I got the seeds to grow some bud. But my mom comes over sometimes and I cant have it the way I want it to be I would cut a hole in the wall and stick a fan in there blowing air in but that would be kinda noticable. I kinda like the idea of bringing intake thru the floor becuz I could pull carpet up and replace it when Im done. Im right on a kinda busy country road or else i would vent out of the roof or side. I have meter men that ride around on 4 wheelers checking meters So im trying to have my basis covered for the most part. I know exactly what ur saying User I am kinda holding myself back, but I'll come thru in the end I usually do. And I checked that out to Russ but its a mobile home and would be hard to get in the walls.

Dude, it's all good relax. If money is a problem....temporarily, (neccssity is the mother of invention) make an intake hole in the floor, and use the fan you got to expell the heat near the ceiling. It ain't the best, it ain't high tech, but it'll work.

i think ive got it figured out. I think I was just thinking too much about it that i overlooked common the sense factor. I knew what I needed to do it was just a matter of how to do it with the space that I had available, and not looking out of the norm. Thanks to all who replied. its good to know that you guys are here if I need advise.
