Home-made co2

When you make your own co2 using a bottle, water, sugar, and yeast... do you have to shake it up to make the co2 release active? Or will this all happen on its own? I read I needed to shake it every now and then for 48 hours and i thought that was kind of ridiculous.. but I dunno, you tell me? Thank you.

From what i've read you need to shake it as often as possible. More than four times a day. Every time you shake it, it releases co2 from the bubbles it makes. The bottle should last two weeks tops. Thats just what I read from multiple articles.

I have 14 plants in 5 gal buckets in a 4x4x8 room. Do you think it would be enough co2 if I had two 2 liter bottles and hung them over the plants towards the middle of the room? That way the co2 can drop on them with a fan circulating it. Only downside is I have a passive intake...
