Hose won't stay attached to water pump

I have an auto watering setup, but I've had to duct tape the hose to the water pump. This works, but then I'm unable to move the reservoir into the bathroom so I can fill it up, because I can't detach the hose. Any suggestions?

Also, why don't you use a bucket or something to add water/nutrient solution to the reservoir instead of moving it?
