Hotter nights or way hotter days?

Hey guys! I'll cut to the chase directly. We're having a summer with hot days and somehow chill nights.

Basically after trial and error, I realized that in my small LED grow tent setup;

i)- If I give the light cycle in day time and dark cycle in night time (au natural), I have an average of 30 degree C (86 F) in the light cycle and 15 degree C(60 F) in the dark cycle in my tent.

ii)- If I give the light cycle in night time and dark cycle in day time, I have an approx. average of 20-24 degree C (70-75 F) in light cycle and 24-25 degree C(77-78 F) in the dark cycle.


Which one do you guys think I should run? I heard that cannabis likes to get down to below 20 C (between 15-20 C/ 60-68 F) in the dark cycle. Like when it's hotter during the light cycle and chiller during the dark cycle. So I have to chose between either too hot days or -warmer than day time- nights. What do you say?

(Right now I'm in early veg, running a 18-6 light schedule)

I try to run the daylight cycle at night if possible. Would rather have consistently lower temps even though the higher temps you had the opposite way are totally fine in veg phase. Cooler temps are always better. A dip in temperature during the dark period is beneficial especially in later stages of flower development but you’ve still got the rest of summer (depending upon where you are) and you have not even flipped them yet. You can always switch back to au natural if daytime temps are cooler later on in the season.

Many locations also have peak and off-peak pricing when it comes to the electric company as well, so running lights at night provides cheaper cost for some people, in addition to the cooler temperatures.

Yep.,, that used to be the case around here but since they have “de-regulated” the power generation markets where I live i find its way more cost effective to lock in a fixed rate. Variable generation rates are still cheaper at different times but they like to jack the rates in the summer months as people turn on the a/c. Dynamic pricing they call it...
In the northeast we have among the highest electric rates in the US. Only way to game it is to try and lock in a low fixed generation rate annually. Every year I end up switching generation companies to lower my bill because they figure you will forget to renew your acct....then they beat you over the head with the higher and/or variable rate.

My electric company bills at a low rate until you go over a certain usage threshold, then increases the rate. Both rates are known and documented. I'm way over the threshold every month.

Run your lights at night.

I run at night. Off peak electricity here is 4.128 ¢ per kWh. It's 3 times that during the day.

Thanks for the reply guys! I live in Germany, sadly the electrical costs are mostly standard tariff here. You pay for how much you use, doesn't matter when.

So my only concern is the temperature.
