I don't like to have anything outside below 40F but that is a personal cut off. I would think as long as it doesn't get below freezing (32F) you should be ok.

well in one mans opinion as your temps start to drop more and more u will see the beauty of the cold in the production of many many tricomes cold weather will also bring out a false purple color in other words if it wasnt cold the plant would not have a purple color trait estream fluxuations in cold will cause a heavy yielding strain to do the oposite,if the plant is putting all of its energy into protecting itself from the elemets it begins to suffer in other ways in one mans opinion the cold weather can fool the eye things may look pretty however weight and quality suffer below 60 degrees c would be around the time things start to go bad keep in mind different strains can deal with enviromental changes better than others

So your telling me I can grow through the winter?

No I say 50 and below is bad which is why you should plant outside no later than Mid-June.

I didn't say anything about starting a grow at that temp. We are talking at what temp can a mature plant stay alive.

You can't grow outside though the winter because the days are shorter than 12 hours long. It's not all about temperatures you know. Ever heard of "growing degree days" ? Look it up and get educated. :dunce:

I thought a frost would cause cellular ruptures, the extent of which being dependant upon the length of exposure to freezing temps as well as the the degree below freezing reached......

Hi guys,

Generally, the optimal temperature for marijuana plants is 75ºF during the active photoperiod, and a drop to around 60ºF during the night cycle. 55ºF is about the lowest you want to go. Anything lower will stunt plant growth, and anything below 30ºF will cause some severe damage.

Now, this is not to say that some strains cannot break the rules a bit. For example, acclimatized equatorial strains can survive in 125ºF temperature, while many of the common strains we grow would die. This, however, is the result of perhaps years of acclimatization.

So then a temp below 55 will lesson thc production? It's in the high 30s at night, am I at the point of diminishing returns?

you cant grow thought the winter, the light is different outside (anything below 15c is to low, anything below 10 is death) if your growing indoors and its cold buy yourself a garden greenhouse heater. they put the room at 30c.

Below 55 will not only lesson THCA production, but stunt the whole plant's growth. If it's in the high 30's, your plant is probably not going to fair so well. Is it in an easily-transportable pot that you can bring in during the night?

Adrenalinerush, thanks for the response, no my girls are in the ground so I'm unable to move them. I guess I'll leave the girls be for a while longer.
The people of this forum make it the best forum I've found.
