how do you germinate?

im sure there a wholebunch of posts on this topic, but i am ordering new seeds, and want the best success rate. you use distilled water? papaer towels or just water in a dark cup? do you use a heating pad under seeds for germination?

heat pad bowl cotton wool plastic wrap place moist cotten wool in bowl seeds on top THIN layer cotton wool on top of seeds (MOIST NOT WET) plastic wrap over top place in dark place on your mat MAKE SURE EVERY THING IS CLEAN !!!!!!!!!!!! hope this helps

I use fresh tap water (the chlorine will kill any surface bacteria), place in dampened paper towel and place that inside a food storage container or similar. Put on top of your hot water tank and cover with a towel to hold the heat in. A heating pad is too hot on it's own, even on low. Fresh seeds should sprout within 24 hours. Older ones can take much longer.

i got a gardning heat mat not hot at all. first time i used a reptile heat mat and it cooked the beans lol DONT use a rep one
