how far do you hang your led's and whats your coverage?

the thread is pretty much what the name says. i have an led for a 18''x12'' area athat is going to have a scrog. i want to know how high you guys hang yours and how high because i am trying to get a beter understanding of hanging distance with led's in general. it seems every other light i have worked with i want to get it as close as possibleto the plant without burning it, but people seem to hang them 1 or more feet away generally, is that for coverage reasons or because of an advantage i dont yet see?

btw i am working with the lighthouse hydro 90w ufo

Some years ago I had a Blackstar 240 and I had plants 6" right under it was fine in a 18" x 24" area.

For coverage, since it is such a small growing area, 8"-12" should be fine.
