How far will my LEDs reach and still effectively bloom?

Im rockin 4 vero 29c run from HLG- 320H-C2100B.

My closet is 10' tall & has some built in wooden shelves about half way up. Because of those shelves (do not wish to rip them out) I only ever thought to use the bottom half of closet for bloom. Then I read Ed Rosenthal's book about 'closet growing' & every diagram in the book uses shelves to maximize growing space. He would usually just hang one HID light at top of the closet. So now Im wondering:

If I hang my vero rig 9' high, will it still effectively bloom the plants that are on the floor? That would be a 6' distance from canopy if my plants are 3' tall.

For that distance you would want reflectors. Is it not possible to attach to a system so you can lower/raise light as you need?

It will not effectively bloom at 6 foot from canopy. Not saying it won't bloom, but no where near potential.
18" to 24" as (VegasWinner stated) is where you should start from. Raise/lower as needed to cover floor footprint.
Good luck :)
