How fast does budding take?

My friend has a few plants growing and they look very green but look pretty slow in growing buds. You can see that they are beginning to show but overall nothing much yet. It's been a few days since showing though , does it take around a week or more for things to start to really ramp up?

Depends on the strain.

With some strains, you can see pistils starting to form a week after switching to 12-12, especially if the plants are over a month old already.

With some strains, it takes fully three weeks before you see anything happening.
