How hot before CO2 is a must

i jus switched my 2 400 mh for 400 hps, have an 6 in inline fan and dual air cooled reflectors. i jumped from 70-75 to 80-85. never ran this hot. id like to get co2 just wondering how hot is everyones room, anyone run their room in the 80s with no prob. i got plenty of air movment, and a 150 cfm intake
 
How hot do you keep the rest of the house? I run four 1000's HPS and dont get that hot with one fan, and my lights are not air cooled. I stay 72-77 on and since im 12/12 right now I let it get like 59-61 when off.
 
mine is in a secrect room in the basment. the total grow area is 7x7x5. 5x3 is the flower room. i have a closet for the mother room and clones on the top
 
i started co2 when i switched over to my HPS because it was pushing 90... i just threw a couple pounds of dry ice in a cooler (left cracked open a little ) with a fan on top blowing threw the plants... co2 helps them withstand the heat better... but my plants have been in about 85 degrees there entire life.. so i dont know if having them go threw such a drastic raise in temp will cause problems.. id like to know tho. hopefully someone with more experience will be able to answer this
 
(( 75 to 85 is a pretty big difference in environment.. but i know for sure that plants will grow in 85 degrees ))
 
i've seen people run co2 in 90 degree temps.... not saying that it'd work great for you.... but i do know that co2 allows the plant to handle/tolerate hotter temps
 
yeah.. but the dry ice technique is begining to be a bit costly.. im using about 2.5 pounds a day at $1.50 a pound... im probably going to splurge and get a co2 system.. but with the ammount of exhaust im pulling im not too sure if the co2 would actually have time to stay in the room? guess ill have to pay for a freakin co2 meter too! damn this hobby.. damn this money pit of a hobby straight to hell!! how freakin hard can it be! plant a seed, it grows right?!?! SHIT! :::please appoligize as i freak out::

anyway.. yeah.. co2.. next on my TO DO FUCKIN LIST.. haha
 
dertmagert, dont worry bro.... i've almost got $3000 invested in two setups! IT IS one expensive hobby, but only the best for my plants! Hell im being mean and stuffing them in enclosed stealthy areas, i might as well make her(s) area a nice one!!!!

yea, ditch the dry ice...i didnt notice your post, i was responding in general! dry ice is a good sub but way too expensive for it to be practical. Invest in a co2 tank and a nice enviro system. The only reason why i say AND nice enviro system controller is because, why buy the expensive gas when your paying money to exhaust the gas right back out? enviro controllers allow you to run a cycle, achieve the desired co2 ppm range dictated by user, cycle ends....gas is exhausted and a new cycle runs!

enviro controllers are fucking expensive, but in the long run....it eventually pays for itself as well as save you money and gas! As the only time the exhaust fans run is when you are not running co2. Granted to make system like the afore mentioned above, i believe in order to get it perfect, you would need to cool your lighting (if temps are normally a problem) separately, because once the cycle is ran the main exhaust is turned off to let the co2 gas sit and marinate! Temperatures can get way outta wack if the light and reflector isnt properly cooled. Some controllers also turn the exhaust back on and cut the co2 off if the temps get above the user set maximum!!!!

A free way to get increased c02 is to vent your hot water heater into your room if its gas,it works as long as the added heat isnt an issue or can be dealt with.
 
yeah.. all sound like viable solutions.. however, burning anything is not in my perspective.. heat IS my problem.. so i tried to go to the reverse end of the spectrum ( dry ice = co2 + COLD ) ,, but im sure il figure something out.. no need to panic.. its not that bad ((yet))

I know propane for sure but kerosene or fuel oil would scare the hell out of me, just because i dont know anything about them as a fuel source,i tend to not fuck with stuff that im not sure of just to be on the safe side.
 
Just get a regular CO2 set up with a tank and set the timer for 1hr three times a day. One cycle at the beginning of the light cycle and one before the end. Then one short one in the middle of the cycle and make sure all of the fans are off. The CO2 regulator kit is $150 and a tank is $80. It is worth the investment to do it right and improve your yields. It will work great that way you do not have to worry about the high temps as much. YouTube - How to grow green part 4. You can also foliar feed with carbonated soda water and a spray bottle for cheap way to give them C02.

Only if you want to Kill yourself with Carbon Monoxide poisoning!! Plants like Carbon dioxide like the gas that is in soda water not flue gases from you hot water heater and furnace.

is it? i havent given any co2 in the dark cycle but i was actually planning on it because when the lights are on in my room the exhaust is on too.. as well as 2 other fans for circulation.. my exhaust is very heavy for the room its in so i was just trying to find a way to get the co2 to stay in the room long enough for the plants to use it instead of having it instantly whisked away by a over zealous blower! hmm.. back to the drawing board

on another note, i was also wondering if i should be running my fans while the light is off... i havent.. i have my light and all my fans on the same timer.. i wonder if thats a problem..

It would be a silent death... I have often thought about the increased amount of CO2 I'm getting with 5 people in the house and all the natural CO2 falling to floor and finding its way into the basement.. I so need a meter
but have been putting it off since Im not cash cropping it. :mrgreen:

I take it you've never seen a co2 burner up close ?
