how long for seeds

And also if the plants are polinated does this effect the rate of the bud growth? I think it would because the plants are putting so much energy into the production of seeds that there would be little left for anything else. So would I be right with this thinking?

you answered the question yourself, the plants energy goes into making seeds, you will get very little bud. i have no experience on how long the seeds will be ready in, but i would hazard a guess at whenever the harvest time would be if it hadn't been seeded. if it was in the wild you would think that the plant would want seeds ready before winter comes so that they are mature enough to survive winter and germ in spring.

from seed to harvest all depends on the strain. if you get an autoflower you can go from seed to harvest in about 2 months.

You should be able to tell by taking some samples off a seeding bud and check. If they are pale, lime green, ... they are not ready. You are looking for the healthy, somewhat dark, veiny seeds that you would expect to see from a seedbank. You can search for pics of healthy seeds or zoom-ins of people purchases from seed banks and get examples of what exactly to aim for. Rather than the bud finishing in 8-10 weeks of flowering, expect your seeds to be ready after 8-10 weeks. And don't forget that while your seeded buds won't be the greatest smoke, you can make A LOT of hash with that after you extract seeds.

Peace!

It depends on when they were pollinated. When the seeds are ripe , though, you will be able to see them in the bud. Like, "hey look, seeds that look plantable in my bud"

I think 3-4 weeks after polination should give viable seeds. when the seed covers crack open and you can see dark brown or black seeds they should be ready to dry for 30-60 days
