How long to my plants stay in veg stage?

I started with clones that are in the 4 inch rock wool cubes and are currently vegging under my T5. They are about 5 inches tall. I'm curious to know how much longer they will stay in veg before I move them into the flower room under my 1000 watt HPS lights? Is there a general rule about size or time? Thanks!

you can keep them in veg under lights at 18/6 for years :)

They will only start to flower when YOU switch to 12/12 light cycle .

The rule of thumb dont exsist , Some people go right into flower from seed ... some people veg for 4 weeks .. some veg for 8 ... some flower when a plant reaches a set hight ... 6 - 10 - 12 inches .

its up to you when your plants veg and for how long :)

Under a 1000w ,... young plants will need to harden off a bit and get used to that kind of light if its to close .

Me ?... 8 weeks from clone in veg ... Keeping them small and tight ...then Introduce them to a bigger light for a couple of days ..then flip to 12/12 .

Right or wrong thats how i have worked it :)

Hope that helps

I agree with my man Ventos. Veg them babies for a month or two. Big lights deserve big plants to flower. If you just want to grow some smaller plants for yourself then downsize your light to a 400 or 600. No need to be wastful! lol

Thanks for your responses. I was thinking that I'd veg them for at least 4-6 weeks, but maybe 8. To be completely honest, I'm just trying to plan our Christmas vacation and am trying to figure out when my first harvest should/will be.. Ha ha ha. And to be honest, I don't even want to go on vacation, I want to watch my babies. But I won't tell my wife that. Man this is fun......

depending on the strain your growing ... you want to allow at least 8 weeks in flower ( could be longer or shorter depending on the strain ) and the veg period is up to you :)

I flipped some plants yesterday 10/10/10 that will be ready around 10/12/10.. Just in time for Santa :)
