that's going to depend on the size of your plants and system dude.
Is this a soil grow? If so, what size pots are you flowering in? 3gal pots usually have a 12" circumference
The lights should be decent for anything you can manage to squeeze into a 5x5' area.

well lets see if you are trimming plants that came from seed you could prob get away with 6 but if you say you got a dual 600 balast you coul be flowering in a 4x8 room with 2 lights and 12 or so plantshello again people how many plants can i put under a 2 x 600w HPS in a 5 and half foot squar area any help would be good thanks

What method are you using for your grow? Soil, DWC, buckets, etc
Also what type of reflector are you using?
How will you be training the plants, letting them go naturally, or maybe scrog or tomato nets?

il be usein 2 5" cool tube reflectors and im not to sure i want to try DWC bro!and i will let them go natural realy but i will put fishin line about half way up so that the bottom buds willgrow up and not just hang out if u get what i mean. and what is scrog iv allways wonderd what it is?

I've got a 5x5 grow tent at a patient's house with 4 plants,all 3 feet tall,Northern Lights,and they take up the whole room,minus space to water them......it depends on how big you get your plants in veg as to how many you can fit in that area.

how many anything you can put under your lighting system basically comes down to one thing. what kind of footprint is your light laying down? sog is about big numbers, not big plants. so depending on the hoods footprint and the wattage of your bulb, you can kinda work the numbers and decide what grow method will work best for your needs. it has a lot to do with the area you have available and if you can afford to maintain a proper environment.

yep,
i have 28 plants under 2 600's
each in 4 gal square pots (10x10)
so i can fit perfectly 28 pots in my grow room i built, doing 12/12 from seed
lights seem a little lacking in the beginning when so low, but once they are lifted a little as plants get taller, seems to be perfect amount of light
grow chamber is 42" wide x 74" long x 50" tall covered in mylar
so again, you can fit depending on your area and how big of pots you are growing as others have mentioned, figured i would share my setup incase it helps

You realize (2) 600's in a 5.5 foot^2 area would mean you have nearly 18watts per square inch. That's outrageous, I would love to see pics of this grow once you get it going.

My plan is to do sog 2x600 watts on 40 plant white widow max aeroponics in a room 9ft long by 5ft wide and 8ft tall all walls covered in mylar. I have heard this should be sufficent so i think you woul be ok. Cant wait to see the pics

i will start buildin in the next couple of days iv decided to use my 16pot wilma drip feeder an put this in the middle of my grow room im thinking with this amount of light i should get a very good yield what strain is a good yielder low ouder and fast flower but a good strong strain and what size fan kit shall i use would an 8" fan and carbon filter suckin air out and an 8" blowin air in do it?

i have two 600's in a 4x8 area that can hold 18 plants from seed. But i would have to say you can probably fit 12 plants in a 5x5 area hopefully that helped.
