how many plants under a 150 hps

i have lr#2 plants in coffee cans -- cans are kind of tall.am wondering how many can i use under a 150 hps--it says 2x2 in that area i should be able to get 9 containers for awhile right?at least until i can sex them --yes or no!

Well...yes, and no. I put 9 under 1000 watts. And I wouldnt use coffee cans, they will rust. The only possible way I can see this work is to keep the light directly on top of the plants, like within a foot. I dont know if that will light a 2 by 2.. But you will have to keep them ultra tight. I would say grow five, sex out 2 or 3, and allow the plant to occupy a little more space

i use a 150 for veg and thats it , i normaly fit like a 5 pack of beans under it

it does a good job for the first couple of weeks of my babies life then i throw thim under the big girl

so i need alot more lite huh!!!i guess i will half the plants--put my best under the hps and keep the rest under the cfls i have going until i find the boys--them weed them out---hope from here i will have 2 under hps and 2 or 3 under cfls -at least start 2 or 3 every 30 days--during winter

yeah you should be fine with about 6 LR#2 under a 150watt HPS if you add a little side lighting like CFL's, or do the stepped method you were speaking of for a more perpetual harvest

I would go 4 at max I usally put 4 under a 400w

they are LR#2's though...they don't get much larger than 18-24" and they dont do much for side branching so you wont have issues with too much foliage blocking light to the other plants
