How much light and how close should my cfls be?

i have 3 plants that are about 3 weeks old...How many cfls do i need for the veg state? how close should they be to my plants? its just a trial grow its my first time growing indoors...THanks

The more the merrier. It depends on watts obviously and placement. I used to run 14 x 23w under a hood for three to four plants.

Once the plants are established and have true leaf sets, you want the lights within a couple inches. As close as you can without them touching.
