How much should I fill a "bubble bucket" and nutrient questions

Stupid question but how much water exactly does a 5-gallon bucket need for a vegging plant? At the beginning of the grow, I had it about an inch below the net pot but now that the roots are about 6-8 inches long, shouldn't it be a bit lower?

At the moment I measured out 2.5 gallons of water for the reservoir, it that alright?

Also, I have a 3-part set of nutrients from Advanced Nutrients (Grow, Micro, and Bloom). The guy at the hydro store said use all three in equal proportions throughout the entire life of the plant, my friend though says that guy is an idiot. The container recommends 1.54 tsp per gallon so I add 3.85 tsp of each nutrient to the solution, does anyone have other suggestions about what works better?

Yes, you can use the 1:1:1 ratio in the Grow-Micro-Bloom for the entire grow, though some more experienced growers will tweak things a bit more.

I think you might want to try a few different things in order to make sure that you are doing what's right for your plants.

I mean, every plant is different, right? So, if you want to tweak things a bit, then you might see different results with different plants.

And honestly, now that I'm babbling on, it seems like the Grow and the Bloom would be used at different points of a grow. I mean, they're named for the growing stage, after all.

I'm confusing myself here.

I just checked on the AN nutrient calulator (http://www.advancednutrients.com/hydroponics/calc/) and yeah, it says that you use it 1:1:1. So, I guess that's right. I'm not sure I've ever been too strict about it though. At least not lately.
