How often to dose with Microbe Tea, Hydroguard etc.

Hello again.

You lads must be getting sick of my questions by now.

I have decided to go with a live RDWC system and have made some Microbe tea with TNC BactorrS13 - Beneficial Bacteria. Have spoken to the manufacturers for advice and must admit they were very helpful.

My question is how much and how often do I use the tea. I have read an initial dose of 1 part tea to 20 parts solution, but can't find anything on repeat dosing and how often.

Thanks.

why not just use that TNC by itself? mix it up in your res and then do a res change weekly.
I have done that initially RKY, just thought the tea would work out cheaper and have a more diverse selection of microbes when the Worm castings have been added.

This is my recipe bubbles for 18-24 hours.

5 UK gallons (23 litres) of dechlorinated water.
500 ml worm castings
25 ml unsulphured molasses
BactorrS13 1 tsp

Bye the way I'm going to start another thread listing everything I now know/think I may have done wrong. Thanks to the help I have had on this thread I hopefully won't make the same mistakes again. It may also be of some help to other RDWC newbies.
Hope you will chip in with your twopeneth RKY

i personally wouldn't run tea in a rdwc. but if that's how you want to run it, go for it! i tried molasses early on in my growing and had horrible results. i would def not use airstones, waterfalls only.

I thought all of the molasses would be used up feeding and growing the microbes?

i would only ever use carbs in soil. same with tea.

if you really want the truth, start of with a good base nutrient, a bottle of cal/mg and that bag of bacteria. that's it. get a successful grow under your belt. you'll have enough stuff to deal with in monitoring pH 2x day to keep you on your toes for the whole grow.

Mmm, maybe I am being a bit of a skinflint, I can get a 300g bag of TNC Bactorr for 20 Quid , a couple of bags would last me a grow.
Do you rate the TNC Bactorr RKY?

i would call them back and ask them if you could use just the TNC in an rdwc setup with a weekly res change. see what they say. the bag said 15 g per 100L correct?

Yea the bag does say 15ml to 100 litres which isn't to bad really. I will email them now and update.

We never get tired of questions, it's why we're here! I tend to redose my DWC with bennies after 10 days as long as I haven't had to do a res change, as I add all new bennies then anyways.

You're over complicating things.

Keep it simple.
Fuck yes. How many liters is your system? Dump the recommended dose of 15g/100l in there for the first time. Straight to the res. After that, just put about 1/2 that in there each week. I would advise against tea.
The keyword there is INOCULATE. With the inital dose, you gain that. After that, you maintain it. This is by no means fact. Just rambling after a beer.

I also ramble after beer or Guiness in my case. Keeping things simple is not an option for me unfortunately, I have over complicated my whole life and don't intend to stop now. I'm sure life itself is uncomplicated it just never has been for me. KISS

LOL good stuff. That bacteria should work well for you at any rate, it is a pretty comprehensive package including your B.A. and B.S. I really like Orca by Plant Success, it has a similar bacteria package to what you are using.
