I am growing outdoor but I veg the plants inside. I have a 20x30 sq ft non insulated shop with metal roofing and sides, how can I keep it cooler inside my tents if the shop has no a/c. All I have are fans but no ventilation to bring fresh air in and old out.

well....your screwed. jk

your going to have to spend some money to get some duct work done or portable ac and possibly co2 system for that to work.

a temp fix is to use dry ice and a fan blow the cool air that ways ............regural ice works too but it is gone alot faster

u could also try heat transferance...........metal floor inside linked to a metal box outside with ice...........it shuold cool the plate down there by cooling down the insde of the tent some ...maybe 5 to 8 max

Big swamp cooler maybe. Foam insulation. Can you cut holes with gable fans so its aleast the outdoor temp?

I cant really cut anything in the shop, its a rental lol...
There are 2 vents with shutters on them but they always stay open up top of the building with a 2x2ft window in between them that cant open or close. "just for looks"
Can i do something with these?? They are about 15ft high near the roof.

yea take the window out put 2x2 exhaust fan in,save window and reinstall when you leave. or investagate the 2 vents see where they go or whats on the other end of them, maybe there is a non working exhaust fan already ducted to them but has burnt out,and needs fan replacement, if not se if you can add some duct and a fan to them, but really you should build a small room within the garage for better enviorment control for growing.

Most windows can removed from the inside. Look at it and take your time. They're meant to be replaced pretty easily if they get broken. I would insulate the building as much as possible to help with the temperature. The entire roof is a must or you could frame up a smaller lower to the ground solution so there is less area to insulate. Calk the seams if your using hard insulation and then use gorilla or duct tape and then paint the inside with white flat paint. Portable or small window air conditioners are not really expensive. If you have money you can try a split air system. I bought 2 of them for $2000 installed used. They work well. You need to be aware that most of them will not turn back on automatically if you lose power so you have to watch them like a hawk.

Add ventilation and foam core insulation. Take a look at geekmike's room. While few of us are lucky enough to have that high tech of a set up, his walls are completely made of 1" foam core insulation.....not drywall covered in mylar. Temperatures stay way more steady.

Agree, I start changing things up if I hit near 85F. But that only becomes a possibility for me in the heat of summer.
