How to keep buds from browning

How do I keep my lime green Ak47 buds from browning during dry/cure? When I buy from dispensary, buds have much nicer color than my home grown. I can achieve taste, smell, potency... But the color stumps me.

I have no idea how dispensaries have their product, closed one to me is thousands miles away lol

But there is something that works to keep a more nice colours, is well know and used in veggies and greens, when you wash your Buds, (Google it), you have "hot" water and non hot water, for some reason, having it a little hot and then going to final cold water make it more... Appealing, take it with a grain of salt, since I never ever buy in a dispensary so I can't compare

Thanks for the insight. You're not missing much with the lack of dispensary nearby... They extract lots of $ from the bank account... 25+% tax doesn't help.... So, I've never heard of washing bud until today... I read a post earlier about dunking in water or a water baking soda mix or something... This is an outdoor plant and I'm sure a wash wouldn't hurt. Do you have any 1st hand experience doing this?

Sure I'm doing it for more than 20 years, but it wasn't till six or eight years ago I do it a bit... "pro"

I have 4 water buckets (dip your buds in this same order), 1 with water at ambient temp + natural lemon juice (4 to 5 lemons are enough) + sodium bicarbonate (around one or two table spoon), 2 with plain water at ambient temp, 3 with water around 40/50 celsius degree with 250ml of peroxide, 4 this one with plain water at ambient temp. Put your buds in there in each buckle around 30 secs, stir nicely and remove it to the next bucket, then you can (and can be almost mandatory weather wise) have a drier or air gun ventilating it, if you use a hot air gun, don't do it hot, just at ambien temp, is not mandatory to dry it gentle, but if there is high RH in your area by that time, dry it with air, the total process dosent take so much time, then you can dry and cure your buds.

Back in the days I did it many years just with plain water and it still help, but this method that I read some years ago is mandatory and I never miss it.

May have there some confusion with my explanation of the washing thing sorry, english is not my language, the very same order that I did write buckets, is the same order you need to do it, first 30 secs in bucket 1, then bucket 2, and so

I understood what you meant... Performed the wash last night. Glad I did when I saw the stuff that came out in the bucket.

Keep your temps in the 60-70f range post harvest.
The dispensaries in my state are using some sort of ozone machine to sterilize all their buds because we have the strictest microbial testing rules in the country. The buds look real pretty, but the ozone machine completely zaps all the terps and makes everything bland AF.

I don't cure and my weed stays green after drying. I dry it and jar when the moisture level doesn't require burping jars. Weed sold at dispensaries isn't cured either. It's dried and sold.

Light makes it turn brown

Slow

They keep that green color by freeze drying it’s kind of a big investment for a home-grower. Water curing makes for smooth smoke but definitely detracts from bag appeal. Best you can really do is dry at 60f(16c) and 60% humidity. If you’re selling right when it’s done drying is when it looks best the longer the cure the more color it loses. Pack your bigger bags with a boveda. If it’s personal don’t worry about color so much and enjoy your smoke lol.
