How to Pollinate Part of a Female

I have a male growing and he is separated from the females. Read somewhere on Rollitup that I can shake the pollen off the male and put it into an envelope. Then I can take a small paint brush and "paint" pollen on part of a female to get some seeds. Anyone ever tried it and how good does it work?Thanks in advance.

I cut the male flower clusters off just before they pop and put them in a baggie till I see pollen, shake them off and put a desiccant in the bag.
I pollinate 1 small branch and get 100+ seed.
