How to Talk to your Doctor?

Im 17 years old, living in BC and was just wondering how to talk to you're docter about medical ganja. I had knee surgery just over a year ago and ever since then my knee has been in constant pain. the only thing that really helps is smoking pot, i have tried advil, T3's, Morphine, Vicoden but nothing seems to releive the pain like marajuana. So would i have a chance with telling my docter simply "I am in pain and nothing works like pot."? what is the best way going about doing this?

depends on your local laws.. here in ca.. I just had to call a Medical Marijuana Dr and get a recommendation. Had all the docs he may have needed but after taking my b.p and vitals and seeing how much pain I was in and knowing my background it was pretty much a given..

Since then I have dropped ALL my meds (was on 6) now just use my morphine and my canna caps. I dont think Pot for me is 100% effective for pain it helps about 30% but the other bennies are far worth still using.

Chronic pain is what you have.. so I would say you would be a shoe in... depending on your local laws

If you can get a med card, just come straight out and tell him. Here where I am, the VA can (at it's discretion] terminate my medical benefits If I have pot show up in my system. I just came straight out and told my Doc that I smoke. It got me off alcohol when 20 years of VA rehab treatment and AA couldn't. I believe it saved my life. It helps with my depression as well, and is safer than anti-depressants.

And i get what you are saying, the thing i am worried about is my docter thinking im just lying so i can get high, truth is i can only go about 3 days of not smoking pot before the pain gets too great. i mean the pain killers help but ganja is the best method (for me) to releive it.

This sounds fabricated to me...I recommend you talk with your parents before making decisions about knee pain and marijuana being your best choice. I get it, chronic pain from a terrible injury is something medical marijuana smokers have, but at the age of 17 attempting to convince a doctor weed is the only option after everything I have been through...sounds a bit of a stretch?

Not only that, but this quoted message has you mentioning yourself like 6 times in one long run on sentence...fishy; very fishy?

I have to disagree. Pills are the absolute worst for mild chronic pain. I live in Ma(no med weed yet maybe this year) im 21 have 2 slipped disk and have tryed all types of pain killers i hate them all. i mean for me i hate the high also feel like some kind of junky poppin pills. But thats me..

Well im sorry for not practising proper sentance structure when i posted this. I think you are confused, this thread is not about "should i talk to my doctor" because im gonna smoke pot either way, legal or not. this thread is about "How to talk to my docor", BTW my parents know i smoke pot, and they know it is for my knee, not just a teenager trying to get high.

The problem you'll have is your age. 18 is pretty much the requirement at any MJ doctor or collective, however if you had your parents speak to a doctor with you it'd probably help alot.

yep the only problem is your age. in vancouver you can be issued a medical marijuana card from any doctor at a dispensary. you just make an appointment, tell the doctor why cannabis helps you, and once approved, you get a card with your name on it saying that you are under that doctors care and use cannabis for medical reasons.
my suggestion is get your parents behind you, find a dispensary near you, make an appointment and talk to the doctor with your parents. i see no reason why you shouldn't be granted medical. bc is very liberal about pot, vancouver in particular. good luck
