Hps closet grow, can the lamps ever be too high ?

Could it effect the plant negatively if the hps lamps are too high?

I figure it should be fine as long as the plant gets his light and warmth but this is my first one so i would love to hear some feedback please.

thank you

Warmth is not what you need, unless your ambient temps are under 70. You want as intense of light as you can manage without heat stressing the plants. Closer light = higher lux = more nugs.

ding! ding! we has a winner :)

more light=more nugs. heat IS an issue, if the plants are hotter than 30 C (86 F) or colder than 20 C (68 F) there not in the optimal temperature range. the closer the lights are to the plant the better.

brilliant thank you everyone. now i have 3 big arms that are basically covering the new foliage sprouting under them and these big fan leaves are looking dry patchy and only have 3 fingers instead of traditional 5. The question is Should I clip these arms since they are shading lower levels of young sprouts and also drying out?

Thanks everyone pics can come quickly if you'd like
