hps light...electric question

Hey is it okay to plug a 400 watt hps light into a surge protector that is connected to a wall timer? No potential fire risk?

make sure your timer is rated to handle 400 watts; most are. That should be your only concern.

Your typical surge surpressor is nothing more then a MOV. A $1 at Radio Shack. They last 6-12 months. have no sign of failure other then *after* the fact.

If you desire good electricity, consider a line conditioner. Triplite / Isobar seem to be good ones. Best Buy sells thers for the audio equipment. These are overkill, you don't need to filter out all those harmonics.
