HPS Security Lights

I dont know if it has a ballast my friend just said they were selling 150 watt hps security lights at home depot. If it does hav a ballast then i can just plug it right it.. cant i?
 
..........????? sorry for up'ing this but i need to know the asnwer consedering i may be going to buy it tomm or mon.
 
they get really hot if you leave it in the housing tho, you dont have to remove the ballast form the housing... just the light bulb and socket.. its easy to do, you just need a basic extention cord and you have to extend the cords that come from the ballast to the light.. then you can put the ballsast outside your grow room to keep the heat down
 
It will not have a regular three prong plug, you will have to attach one to the unit. I have just going by the pictures in the thread that boober linked to.
 
no the 3 wires are green white and black..green is ground..then ur white and black r pos. and neg...i bought a 70 watt hps from hd before..ur gunna have to buy a plug too..i got a 8' huskey plug i think it was like 6$..all u do is match the colors when u wire it..its not hard man,and make sure u tape everything real good so the wires dont touch.."electrical tape" good luck!
 
o yah some of them have photo sensors...they only allow the light to turn on when its dark..dont worry though..just slap a layer or 2 of duct tape of it and it will be on 24/7!
 
ok so all i have to do is take the housing thats around the bulb and ballast off? then it's good to go.. Also does these security lights come with a extension like chord to plug straight into the wall?

can i get the huskey plug thing from home depot as well? how much did ur 70 watt hps fixture cost. If u wouldnt mind could u take a pic of how your fixture looks. (like the wiring)

well mine was red... and use wire nuts and electrial tape.... we dont what anyone to burn their house down
 
you can remove just the blub and light fixture from the security light and extend the wires conectight the bulb and light fixture to the ballast.... then you dont have to buy all that other shit
 
ok so what i understand from all this is i need to is

#1) unscrew the bulb

#2) Undo all wiring

#3) Take of the fixture that sorrounds the ballast and bulb.

#4) connect the wires from the ballst a bulb to an extension cords wires?


What do u mean by extend the wires
