HTG's Ballasts, Digital Electronic vs Magnetic ballast??

Hey all, i need to know what is going to last longer and give me more lumens. HTG claims the digital electronic gives off more light but gives no percentages. I want the closest to the best set up i can affordably get. So can someone with experience give me the vs and also the vs on the DIY ballast kits vs Digital electronic. Is it going to make that big of a difference to make one worth a 100 more than the other??:peace:

i have 1 of each side by side right now(not HTG). i also have a light meter. the electronic is brighter and it holds it's penetration longer. the magnetic ballasyt weighs about 30 lbs. the electronic about 3 lbs. i would like to have 2 electronic switchable HPS/MH. then i'd be happy.

I use both and love my 600 watt digitals. They fire right up are silent running, run cold and actually are over clocked so each puts out the equiv of 660 watts but use only 560 watts so I get basically 20% more output when all conversions are done and like said 3 lbs is great compared to the old magnetic dinasaurs. The digitals are actually cheaper now. i wouldnt buy from htg as they sell alot of broken stuff thats cheap versions for more then a good quality item would cost but go digital as they use less electric, more output, last longer no hard starts, no hum and cost less to buy and they run both bulbs

Hey cool. Its even noticable just from looking? So its worth the investment? Im willing to pay the difference as long as there is a difference to be noted. Was it Anywhere cheaper than HTG?

can you recommend a good switchable 600? is the lumatek switchable? i saw something that said everything but the 400 will take both types of bulbs. they don't have a switch you just change the bulb. are you aware of the truth behind this? thanks. :blsmoke:

Right on, love the input, cool uses less whats and a lot lighter, very good points so what would you all recomend, Ive heard a lot more possitive than negative about the company so i think ill take the risk, with the waranty i should be good if its the cheapest source known...

I get my 600 watt digitals at Maryland Hydroponics They are $119 thier but I was able to get 2 at $115 shipped after some wheeling and dealing. No switches on them just put the bulb in you wanna use and turn it on.I use an enhanced hortilux hps and now thier are 600 watt straight mh bulbs which run about $40 each for vegging.I figure with everything each 600 watt setup ran me $175 total with the bulbs and reflectors.I love these 600 watt ones and will be ordering a maybe 6 more in the next few months and getting rid of my older 400 and 1000 watt stuff.
