Humidity dropping very slowly

The pinned how-to in this section its on top of page above the most recent posts in this section. I followed that until it finally made sense. In short if its above 65rh put it back to dry. The closer to 60F and 60rh you are, the harder it is to miss the window which is 55-65rh.

However every time I jarred on time it still smoked wet and wouldnt cure. When I jarred it closer to 55rh it would start to cure and smoke. Some strains under go some magical changes in just 2-3 weeks some dont do much and still smoke harsh.

They say 3 weeks is sweet spot but if its a strain that cures notably it will start to show around 1-2 weeks. When I got to that point I was all ruffled up like no way, I just cured for the first time! I missed the window the first few times, its a dance.

If youre using a dehumitifier to keep under 60 rh in dry room just beware most dehumitifiers will get a frozen coil essentially breaking the dehumitifier beyond repair below 65F.

This is it right here. It explains what I said in detail. You want those back into a dry space with a little air flow to prevent mold. You just jar it with a hygrometer to test RH for a few hrs or more to get a accurate reading.

If its rising every 5-10mins its probably to wet, the more ready for jarring it is, the longer it takes to verify its ready with hygrometer.

I jar at 57rh which is quite a small window but like I said I get better results doing so. So if its testing below 55rh, like it says, dont panic, it could take hours to verify its humidity level. I Never used a wood moisture meter or whatever those a called so idk about their effectiveness.

Some people use them but think it can mislead like a hygometer even can. I only cured a few times as Im dabs only but Im pretty sure my info is solid. Some times smell and flavor/harshness can be related to the grow medium some say, with organic soil being best.

Hopefully some more experienced folks can chime in but that should help.

Jarred my harvest 4 weeks ago. At first, humidity registered in the high 80’s. Burped daily. Levels currently sitting in low 70’s. I’m concerned that it’s taking such a long time…or, is longer better?
In jars at 80% :o

I'd be very concerned about mold!

I would not smoke it unless very experienced people could convince me it's safe. Maybe an h020 wash?

Removing from jars for additional drying. Will let you know how it goes. Thanks to all for the responses.

Just be triple vigilant on the bud over drying its why I love hash only. This part can actually ruin the smoke. Do a jar test every oof, I forget but I think that how-to covers this. But not extreme conditions so instead of back on shelf to dry for 12 hrs youll want to every 6 hrs instead.

At some point I was just putting the bud in a bag with it open for 2 hrs then closing and testing rh again. Or every 4 hrs, whatever it takes to not over dry. Theyll dry much faster spread open or dry herb shelf or etc. So keeping all the bud in a 1-2 gallon bag or smaller depending what you just harvested.. It will dry slower.

Some people put in paper bags like this almost identical to what I just said but with a plastic bag you can just close it and test it. Some would leave it mostly empty and close the bag to preserve rh in a case like this.

Avoid handling the weed too much as hash can fall off in amounts you wouldnt believe which is a nightmare to me. I flinch when I see people chop with a saw and just man handling everything but its their meds Im not hating. Just expressing. I found bud can lose half its potency being tossed around too much.

This is what I use to test the branches before bucking the flowers, and then the flowers too after they've been bucked. I keep my temperature at 55-60f and the RH at 60% when I hang dry. I also hang the whole plant if I can, but it usually takes about 2- 3 weeks before I can go into jars or terplock bags. I prefer jars honestly.
