Hydro Shop or Online?

Hey all,

After seeing some responses in a thread about hydro shops, I was just curious as to whether you prefer to shop online or at a local Hydro store? I think that while there are often price advantages of shopping online, having to order anything electronically these days or having to jump through hoops to avoid delivering to certain addresses can be a pain. With a physical store I can pay in cash, and just pay attention when leaving so as not to get followed or anything in those states that still have issues like that.

Was just curious to see what others thought about it!

I do both.

Big things, like chillers, I bring in an Internet price and they match it, considering the shipping. But, special things they can't get that easy. I just found the price break of the summer on a hand held pH, EC meter, I've had my eye on.

And I got a trick little digital hygrometer, on line, to read the RH, that will fit in the Mason Jars i use for curing.

But, little heavy stuff, like Nutes, I support my locals. I like it over there and it is not very far.

Oh, I forgot the main thing.

I have a 25% discount, now at the local store.

Pays to buy local if they appreciate the business.

I know one of my local shops offers a "Preferred Grower Account" that gets you 10% off, I think it's the only one around me that really offers programs like that though. I definitely feel you on the buying local point, I feel like supporting local businesses, especially in this industry, is really important.

Just remember all the things you're buying no matter where you're buying from are legal...nothing to worry about

I've used both extensively. Personally, I prefer a shop, as I'm spending money in my local economy. Further that, the guys/gals at my local shop are experts at growing, and are always willing to answer questions or give good tips. They'll also take the time to go over the differences and specifics when trying to decide on multiple similar items, whereas online, you're dealing with a vendor that does not necessarily use the products they sell (eBay, Amazon etc). Besides those points, at least at the local grow shop if something doesn't work as advertised, I can actually reach out and choke someone ;)

It's all dependent. In my area there's only one hydro store and its prices are way over priced. I find things at local garden centers, I'm always in there buying my amendments and flowers for around the house.

Whatever Home Depot Doesn't have, I'll buy It off Amazon.

Hydro Shops are filled with stupid people.
And if you wanna talk Paranoia, which store do you think they'll be watching? A place that's dedicated to growing pot... Or Home Depot?

Trick is, you gotta go to the Biggest Home Depot. Too much service through the day for anyone to give a shit about someone buying Plant food and a 1000w Light Bulb..
