Hydro vs Soil (a growers perspective)

Recently I decided I would settle the dispute between hydro and soil, and what produces the best bud, at least for me. Argue the natural or organic constructs of why soil is better, or the control you get with hydro all you want.

The better grow is definitely hydro. Why? In a side by side test (sorry no pictures) I found that as a result of having absolute control in growing environments, as well as having perfect feeding schedule, and being able to get away with a shorter flush, hydroponic growing is far superior to that of soil.

The only drawbacks I have ever encountered in hydroponically growing is that of learning the basics. Avoiding root rot, water temp, pH, etc. All things you should know and understand as a grower anyway. After you learn complete control, and you have complete control, your yields will surprise even yourself.

With soil I encounter similar drawbacks every time and it makes me paranoid. Soil pH is a ridiculous yield inhibitor. Fact of the matter is, with a low pH your plants may not show any signs of defection when in fact they have stopped growing, and if your pH is too low, it is such a pain in the ass to re-regulate a pot full of dirt. you have to worry about becoming root bound. And believe me that last week or two of flushing makes a huge difference when you could be feeding your plants up to the last 2 or 3 days.

Have you ever had a soil plant stay green until a week before harvest only to fatten up tremendously off of the nutrient rich leaves it has never used for reserves. I dare not think so.

Hydro for cash, soil for stash. You could never produce with hydro the QUALITY of bud you can in soil.
it's like chicken, pump it full of crap to make it bigger, but the taste would never compare to an organically raised chicken.
like the foster farms commercials

hahahahahaha, this arguement makes me laugh............

Reminds me of those people that munch down vitamins on a daily basis and believe that they are 100% healthy.....substituting nature with an artificial environment is never going to be the same, thats fact.

But milk from cows that were grown without artificial growth hormones doesn't taste as good as milk from roid raging cows.

wilsoncr17, I totally agree. What some people miss when talking about hydro taste, is that the plants are the result of what they are fed. Using proper nutrients and additives with a proper flush, can give you great tasting finished product with 3 times the quantity.

i use organic nutes in my hydro system

the taste is on par with anything grown in the soil

i am however not saying hydro is better than soil

but that is a common misconception about hydro
