I am newbie with 2000 w hps and questions...

Hello all,

I recently found a good, working 2000 watt hps lying around the house and want to incorporate it into my small (6 plants), legal, medical grow operation. What should I do to prevent accidents? overheating? fires? At what point in the plants' life could I start using it? ie, is it too strong for 6 little baby clones? should I start them under my 150w hps then switch to the 2k once they start 12/12? Or, is a 2k hps just WAY TOO MUCH for only 6 plants? thanks

I didnt know they made 2000w lights. Is this a real grow light or a street light?

Street lights are usually 150w/mh. I use them. So do you have access to one of the launchpads? It should be labled somewhere? I run 1350w in an 8ft x 8ft x 8ft enclosure. If the proper materials are used I can't see any reason why you can't run 2000w in said enclosure. I would leave the light up high for full dispersal and reflect with white. As long as plants have a good root system they won't have much trouble with the lighting. WHEN INSTALLING VENTILATION FANS TAKE CARE NOT TO INADVERTANTLY CREATE A VACUUM IN YOUR GROW AS SO MANY PEOPLE DO.

LOL at this thread.

I just happened to find something laying around my house that doesn't exist. You know how that is, you walk into a room you've never been in before and there is shit from the future in it.
