I could really use some help with some x factors of my setup.

First and foremost let me say I have been doing a lot of research before posting so I could avoid posting stuff that has been posted by everyone who starts out here.

However... I feel I cant avoid the inevitable :wall:I have some beginners questions. And I really did try hard to use the search feature many times to get my answers and could not figure it out so sorry.



I know how to make the hydro setup I am going to use, I just am trying to find what size resivoir to use. I am trying to keep it short as I can because space is somewhat limited.

I will have 3 plants in the flowering room. Will the veg room need more water because of having more plants in there with the mother?

The only information I was able to find on this was someone saying they should have 3 gallons per 36 inch plant. Is this correct? I was hoping to grow the plant not so tall though so maybe less water would be needed?

Sorry if these are annoying questions. Thanks a lot for your help.




I came up with 1 more question that I havent really searched for but figured someone may be able to answer easily is for the top part of it where the plants will be, whats the general size I should have per plant is it like 1x1 or anything like that? Thanks.

Nutrient Reservoir: Once you have chosen the tray size you will then need to size a reservoir for the tray. The calculation for this is quite simple: Height you wish to flood in the tray (H) x Width of the tray (W) x Length of the tray (L). For this calculation it is best to convert feet into inches. Then multiply the cubic inches by 0.0043 to convert it into gallons.

Example:
For this example lets use a 3’ x 6’ American Agritech tray. The plants will be growing in 6”x6” rockwool cubes, thus the tray will flood up to 4”.

Reservoir size required (gal) = ((3’x12) x (6’ x 12) x 4”) x 0.0043
= 36” x 72” x 4” x 0.0043
= 45 gallons (minimum)
