i dont want my biggest plant to die!!! could this be root rot? i have pictures

ok so this is one of my 5 plants i have growing outside this year. Fox farms soil, was using tiger bloom nutes every other watering and watering every other day with 1/3 gallon of water (recently stopped using nutes and recently dumped 2 gallons of water on it cause i thought maybe under watered), i leave my water out for at least 24 hrs before watering to allow chemicals to evaporate, gets a least 10 hrs of direct sunlight a day, temps anywhere from 70-90 in the day and 55-65 in the night, growing it in cali:lol:.

I had a plant die several weeks back and didnt know why but now thinking it was rot rot and i dont want this to happen to my biggest plant. Ideas???

I could be wrong but I don't think you can get root rot in soil. It looks to me like you need to water it more and make sure you fertilize it because it looks low in nitrogen. Make sure you ph your water first too.

um im using water from the hose and they are in the ground.....dont really have the money for a $80-100 ph meter....

theres this stuff that works awsome i just got, it was 7.99, and you drop this liquid in your water and based on the color it turns it will tell you the ph. I also bought a 50 hanna ph tester, but then i find out i need storage solution and calibrating solution, and some other stuff thats a big hasstle to me. i just use the cheap ph tester and i love it

You can afford a $35 pH meter and the ref solution, some distilled water for storage (only need the cap part filled) and about $20 for pH UP & pH DOWN.

I say it because when you loose plants due to pH shock from shitty city water it'll cost a LOT more than the simple investment & steps to correct the issue. Even if you don't kill the plant, you stress it and it looses yield.

yea thanks i just looked into this yesterday about tap water ph being that high...will defintley go get an adjuster kit tomorrow...kinda weird though is a have 4 other plants that look great...just this one that has been giving me trouble lately in the last 3 weeks

yea so i tested the water and its around 8.5 and when i use nutes it goes down to 5.0.....im guessing me watering with 8.5 and then 5.0 was stressing them and causing dying leaves ect so i got some PH adj. to keep it at 6.5

Next run try feeding/watering them in at between 5.8 - 6.2 pH and remember both standing water and mixed nutrient will creep in pH given a little time. So if it's 6.0 when you mix it... it likely won't be 6.0, 8 hours from then.

Before i went and spent a lot of money on ph testers try and give it 5 gallons of water check it in a couple of hours and see if it has perked up.

the reason i say this is because in your pic the ground looks baked and the surrounding grass is dry and also if your others that are "smaller" are doing good with the same water and nutes then its not what you are using but the amount bigger plants mean bigger root system.

yea 3 gallons later last night an NO difference...but that water had a ph of 8.5 so i will let it dry out tommorrow and tuesday and then adj the ph of my next watering on wednesday to be 6.5 like it should be.......still cant believe after all this time and research i never knew tap water was that bad
