i am aware that CBD works as an anti psychotic - my current medicine Zyprexa reduces my sex drive and ability, makes me sleepy, caused me to double my body weight, could kill me or give me diabetes at any time, the list goes on. whereas CBD has no side effects that i know of.

does anyone know if there is access to straight CBD anywhere? or how can i help to push that research forward? i know that if i ask my doctor on friday he will say that he is not aware of it and that it is not yet approved. but, i am serious that this would change my life. i have tried pretty much every other atypical anti psychotic with equal or worse side effects. i have tried with no pills and it was hellish. CBD may be what i need to take for the rest of my life, but it is hidden in plain view...

can anyone direct me to any more information please?

Im not exactly sure about pure CBD . But i do agree you should try to make a switch from pills to cbd. Contact Harborside health center in Oakland. They will give you much info on CBD.

As far as I'm aware CBD reacts with thc so you need both. I could be wrong about that, but I'm pretty sure that's the case.

Look at the bright side ... it's Zyprexa and not Clozaril. I would not discontinue the Zyprexa, not with your diagnosis ... but supplementing with a high-CBD strain might or might not work. read the PDR ... some of the atypicals have documented bad interactions with weed. cn

some good points.. perhaps i would be a candidate to reduce my Zyprexa dose closer to the minimum (5mg) - i currently take 15mg..
i believe that CBD can be used independently from THC - i even read that scientists bred a non-THC strain recently..
i might contact harborside.. they seem very helpful on Weed Wars..

I have been doing a bit of research on this issue. Most agree that CBD is very successful as a treatment for schizophrenia. However, quite a bit of research that THC can exacerbate the symptoms. Yes there are CBD tinctures that will likely help you. Since you are lucky enough to be in a legal state, go to a trustworthy dispensary and ask them. Also, please consult with your Dr. before you think about discontinuing the zyprexa. Cold turkey from anti-psychotics is never a good idea.

thanks you budz - and no no, i will never change my medication without consulting a doctor.. i once tried to stop with the doctors ok and it did not go well.. i may have been experiencing the withdrawal feelings from Olanzapine, but it was bad to the point of physical discomfort..

i have been very cautious and not brought up marijuana with my psychophamocologist.. if i were going to try to replace Zyprexa with CBD then i would need to discuss it with him.. but, i do not know about his reaction if i acquired a prescription.. probably not a bad thing..

Marijuana is a psychoactive in it's most raw form, therefore one would not suggest smoking it with a condition like yours as it could have adverse side effects with possible mania.

A CBD tinture can be obtained at most clinincs, and is non psychoactive more narcotic.

Just to support socaliboy claim, CBD tincture can be found where low THC cannabis has been used.
The psychoactive effects are supposed to be not noticeable.
