I know it's been answered but is there even a rull of thumbs for how long to veg??

I'm just over 7 weeks into vegging and have pinned or pinched everything and they look pretty good. Balanced overall temps have been holding me back but I read stuff that have temperature variables that range from downright hot at 90 degrees and bottoming out at 50 degrees while not ideal, are suffient so I may as well try it and keeps tweaking with fans and heaters ect. Problem is the room they are in is not temp stable. What do you thinks. Pull the trigger or continure to work out temps and wait?? (2.5 buckets only)

Can I really expect a growth spurt after going 12/12 and do I have to go straight to a low N with a higher P and K?
I've posted these pics elsewhere but I will upday them later today...Thanks for you help.

Your plants look like heads of lettuce man :) Id throw them into flower now...The first 2 weeks of flower they will grow verticaly then proceed to fill out with bud production... I try to keep my temps below 80 degrees farenheit at all times... Plants seem to grow optimal for me with temps between 72 and 78.... Temp fluctuations are ok as long as there within a 15 to 20 degree window imo....

that temp range is ok I grow outdoors and were I live in the summer it gets to the mid to low 90's during the day and never warmer than 55 at night and my plants still grow okay and also u could veg forever if u wanted to

now that's lst to the extreme. good job. you can throw them into flower now and they will at least double in height. if you're going to flower with floro lights i would definately flip now. if you're using some kind of hid you can grow them a little longer if you want for some extra yield. if you have limited vertical space it would be a good idea to flower now.

also when you go into flower you don't need to flip RIGHT to bloom nutes, and don't deprive them of too much n. you want the leaves to survive till harvest and if they yellow too soon the yield will suffer.

i typically continue the grow formula until the stretch is over, then switch to the bloom nutes, so a good 1-2 weeks into flower i'm still using the grow formula because my bloom formula doesn't keep all strains green on its own. it's up to you really, and if it's your first grow and/or first time using your nutes, there will be a learning curve no matter what.

Thats pretty funny smokey cause they do look like heads of lettuce.:peace::-?

total head.... I was using my own compost teas up until a few weeks ago and switched to Alaskan 5-1-1. Not sure why I switched cause my teas are rich in seaweed and fish crap. All good well composted stuff. I went out this afternoon to find a organic bloom fert but there is sure not much on the shelves this time of year. I was going to go straight to a bloom fert but it makes sense what you say. I:E: wait a couple of weeks. That's good because I can order something. Any suggestions??

I do a lot of outdoor growing and usually just load up on bone meal. Takes awhile to get to the plant but it works. I changed the bulbs over to 27K and thru in a couple of 6500K just to mix things up a bit. Will change the clock tommorow to a 12/12.

I was having so much fun lsting I forgot to pull the trigger on blooming. I got them trained like a dog on a leash. Thanks for the advise!! Lord knows I can grow anything (pretty much) outdoors but this indoor under cfl's is a new beast.

Jordan.. I no what you mean. My outdoor stuff doesn't mind wild temp fluxuations so why should the indoor?? I'm just trying to follow the best advise I can find. I don't think the fluxuations will kill them but may affect yield and potency. Oh Well, who knows.
:peace:

Well sence you top then every chance you get you going to have wide plants. Might need scrog. I top once erly veg and once befor flower. I also veg 1/3 of the hight I want at harvest.
But ether streach out those babys or just flower now

Jeeeeeebus, motherfucker holy son of whomever!!!!! OK...whew dammit..Always plan on you plants doubling their size in flower, unless theyre sativas..then God help you. It depends on how much room you have.. sativas can stretch from here to eternity.. they might never flower properly for you. Give us some more info.

Well my little cabbages are doing fine but I should have pulled the trigger earlier! It never occurred to me that I could lst to much. Only one out of four was pinched and that was just a single time. The rest were pinned down hard. These little femmed Master Kush are tough little ladies.A couple of days under 12/12 and they are stretching. Once they all get their heads turned up I will start hitting them with the fox farms something I just ordered. I think I really could have got away with just my own garden teas but fell for it maybe...wtf. Wild temps swings from almost 100 degrees to down to 50 degrees. They don't seem to mind but I'm guessing I will pay a price in potency and/or yield.
This indoor chit has been a lot of fun whatever the outcome is. It is however much easier to just let nature control the light and humidity. A heck of a learning curve but I am sufficiently motivated to upgrade everything from a new lighting system to a much bigger grow room. I have the room but I priced out plywood yesterday and it's expensive.

thats awesome to see man i love the cfls. I'm doing the same too, without the lst'ing. my temps are ranging just like yours, from around 60 at night, sometimes a lil lower to 86 to 88 during day cycle. mine are doing great. for the moment. first grow ever, so hard to tell but seems like its working out. definitely hope to have plants like yours soon! kudos! +rep
