I need to grow FAST- it stops my seizures

Hi all- I'm super noob to growing, but I have no source to get bud- and of all the damn pharmacuticals the docs have tried on me, the only thing that stops my seizures (I have epilepsy) is smoking. I have a plant already growing under a 150w HPS light. It is about 6" tall in a one gallon bucket. If it is female (I hope) what is the best way of getting buds from it as fast as possible? Should I switch to 12/12 now? Is it too early? It is about a month old, but I just got my HPS light a couple days ago. I also only have about 9 sq. ft. to work in an 5 ft. tall. I am not too worried if my first harvest is small, just enough to get me SOMETHING untill I can grow more. If anyone has any answers let me know please. I also have to keep it low key so my kids don't find it. Thanks in advance!!

Awesome. Do I need to buy fertilizer or get a bigger bucket? Here's a picture... oh never mind I don't know how to post it yet.

If you wait longer, you'll get increased yields. What kind of light do you have it under?
You'll want to get a flowering fertilizer. Every fertilizer has three numbers on it's label. The middle # is for it's phosphorus content, which plants need to flower. Your bucket size is probably fine.

Sorry, you already answered the light question. Yeah, just go to 12/12 with a flowering fertilizer at 1/2 strength. Over the next few weeks, gradually increase the strength of the fertilizer up to what the label tells you. Good luck.

i have no idea if if it's female or not. I have 4 other seeds just germinating right now, bbut if it turn out male, I guess my only option is to kill it, huh? I also have only one light and can't afford another one yet. I have some standard CFL bulbs (lilke to save power) but I don't know if those are enough to grow with. I guess I'll try if this plant is female, so I can get the next crop started. Unfortunately, up here in Minnesota, it won't be warm enough outside for a bit.

If it's a male, yeah, kill it. To veg you can use the fluoros. Do you know what the wattage of the fluoros is? To flower it, use the HPS and warm cfl's. Warm cfl's have a kelvin rating of about 2700. The cool cfl's have a kelvin rating of about 5000, and can be used to veg it. Obviously, the higher the wattage, the better.

To quicken your grow & flower times, supplementing the CO2 in the grow space works well. You can do this by getting some yeast and activating it with slightly warm water and sugar. The yeast exhale CO2. They can be kept alive by adding fresh water and sugar every week or so. Google it for more info. I've had good results spraying the plants with seltzer water also. Don't use club soda, as it contains salts that will hurt your plant.

You know, for a person like yourself, I think it would be worth it to get a mother plant under Perma-Vegetative.
Then take clones from it and flower every couple months.

That way would be a constant income of bud.

You need 2 grow areas that dont see eachothers light to do that.

That would be great but I only have a 3x3 area maybe 5' tall, and I only have one small hps 150 light. Anythng more might get the kids wondering what dad is doing in the basement all the time and they would find a way to see inside my cabinet (a converted shower stall from the 20s i think). BTW are cfl grow lights just the kind that screw into a regullar outlet?

Most of them screw in to the regular(medium) socket. Use the biggest ones you can. The plant to me looks a little stretched. I would get the light as close as you can without burning it. I would always grow more than one to make sure you get a female. I would also get a few cfl's to use for veg until you really need the hps, and then break it out. Thats just me though.
I hope your grwo is very succesful and you are able to live well.

Yeah it's stretched a little- I had no lights at all for the first two-three weeks. I had to put it in a window in the basement that got poor light. Those cfl bulbs are just the kind people use in thier regular lights to save energy? Or is there a special kind for growing? I have a desk lamp I can use if I need to, maybe put a 75w equivalent cfl in it? Are they the ones that are all twisty or the ones with several long tube going out then curving back to the base? Light sucks in northern MN- but at least it's snowy. It was summer untill yesterday when we got 14" of snow. One more question- is 18/6 mean 18 on and 6 off or vice/versa? Thanks.

what i look for is either the white pistils for the females, or a set of balls for a male. Just check everyday.

cfl's are just the regular ones as you have described.
there are various types of cfl's just as their are incandescent bulbs.. warm and cool(cool white).

cool for vegitative and warm for flowering.

warm will give off a redish tint like your hps.

you can do the entire grow with the 250 hps you have but it would be better to suppliment it with some cfl's

cool/white/5000k would be fine for now to give it some extra light and will help in the veg stage for the next go around

Ok- You had me worried for a minute. Right After I replied I looked closer - funny. Sorry about that. What's sad is that there really is such a thing. Oh well- to each his own unless they get near my kids. Then to each my shotgun.
