Identifying strains

This is my first grow, I managed to get a bag of seeds from a friend although I have no idea of the strains. I am getting my process down before investing in some high quality seeds, I'm just curious if anyone out there is experienced enough to identify strains from pictures. I will post some pictures in a day or two on this thread of the various plants. My potted girls are about 2 months old and my seedlings are 1mo. I start a new round every month to keep a steady flow of plants going. I have no idea of sex of any of them yet, I plant to clone the potted ones and force a flower off the clones to determine sex in about a week.

its impossible to tell w/o knowing their parents. You can infer indica or sativa by the leaf structure but thats about it. i dont care what the name is as long as its fire and gets me silly high. good luck.

Even name brand seeds out of the same shipment can have wildly different pheno variations. The best you are going to do is make a guess about indica or sativa dominance. Now if you have grown a lot of different strains over the years, you might be able to narrow things down a little bit.

Yeah, you'll never know. But you can make up your own appropriate name for it once you grow it!
( Hint: Something irresistible- like "Dog Vomit", or "Pampers"- can really help with the marketing end when it comes time to move it)
