ILGM Seeds (Medical)

The seeds mostly are smaller in size, but means nothing. I toss raw rice in the baggies & keep them sealed to keep moisture out.

Should be a link below this comment to my FC4800 4x4 grow. I grew out the wedding cake. She was pretty awesome for just picking 1 seed out of a 20pk.
Don’t get me wrong, as people have had issues with ILGM seeds. Stories are all over the net. Good & bad.

Huh!

You add rice to keep the moisture out?
I am wondering if you have humidity issues or if this is an improved long term storage advancement.

I'm storing thousands of my medical strain seeds I grew 2021/2022 so this is of interest to me.
How did you come to add a desiccant?

Thanks.

Rice absorbs moisture. I totally could have worded that better.

I've been keen to this method of "Staying dry" since back in the days when bags of heroine were kept in cigar boxes of rice to keep humidity from getting into the bags & a loss of product.

Okay.

I have a pet food container. Pet_food_container.jpg with canning jars of seeds.
I keep that in a cool root cellar. I am wondering if I should place some rice around the jars.
These genetics lasted 10 years in jars in California with no special storage conditions but this is Illinois. A State where Cannabis seeds are legal to have, share and sell.

I think I should look into possible humidity issues.
How many years do your seeds stay viable? I mean they are basically in suspended animation and holding on to a tiny drop of water right? I wonder what humidity concerns we really have.

I've only had them for about a 2 years. I keep sealed packs in a Christmas tin that has the different flavored popcorn in them at first.
Anything that's open, or loose in baggies/vials I keep in a small wooden box with a tiny silica gel packet in addition to the rice in most of them. 7E98430A-E97C-418B-BB35-D6BC6E212441.jpeg

Okay.

I have decided to put a meter in the container.
I have a temperature meter hard wired so I know what the temps are but I haven't looked into the humidity inside.
I think that if it is low it should be okay. I mean no more than 50% max.
I don't think too dry would be good as it might suck moisture out of the seed that the seed needs to stay viable for a decade. Too much and it might stress the seed into being too ready to sprout perhaps?

Anyone have better information?
