I'm a total noob to indoor growing and could use some pointers.

Do I HAVE to have a high pressure sodium light?

So I've planted seeds in my backyard back in high school but never really tried hard enough to be successful and now I really want to get into this hobby and I am growing indoors now that I live on my own :-) ...right now i have 4 plants that have been growing for about a week and a half and they are doing magnificently in my opinion..I just want to make sure I dont screw it up so any tips would be much appreciated...things like lighting, watering, sexing, and I especially would like to know more about the different stages of growth as well...thanks a lot for any input. :leaf:

I have also posted an image of my current setup/plants and would appreciate feedback on that. (I know its ghetto but it seems to work for now)

no you dont need 1 there are plenty of threads on here that grow only with cfls...I vegged my girls under cfls and just went ahead and grabbed a 400w hps...you can get them pretty cheap on ebay or shops online...

is a it a must,no..butt,thers always a but,not only does ity pay it self off, weather thats from you yirldingh more and making your money back or yeilding more and getting your moneys worth..cause it will def give your girls the opportunity to give you max yeild. mainly because of the color spectrum and cause of the amount of lumens they put out..i belive the sun puts out 10,000 lumens per sq ft. and you want to tyry as best you can to replicate that w/o burning them or stressing them out to wher they go hermie on you. ive seen bulbs on 1000bulbs.com for as cheap as 15 dollars, ther not the best, but they def do work well enough..and also you can get a hood and bulb an ballast combo for under 200 dollars,if your ok with ordering online..it wont be a cool tube or vented hood but it is a hps set up. now if you choose not to use hps you can get as many 2700k cfls at the highest actual wattage as u can pack in your room and a few 6500ks also, and that will do the trick i have herd that the quality of bud they produce is great the only down side to using cfl to flower is low yeild.hope i helped some. pm me if you need some more insight

just off the top? you need to lose te jiffy pots, they suck moisture out of the soil, instead try party cups. lose the tin foil, it's only 70%reflective the other 30% tranfers to heat, instead of foil go to walmart and pick up a windshield light/heat deflector for your car. 6$ will do that whole space. get the humidifier out of your grow space.... too small an area and you'll certainly get mold. also more lighting is going to be needed very soon at the very least 1- 100w cfl daylight or full spectrum bulb per plant while in veg, flowering you'll need to swap over to soft white cfls or something more on the red spectrum of collor.

My advice.
Don't listen to any of the replies you've gotten so far.
Most people on these boards don't know what the hell their talking about.
They'll end steering you into the direction of dead or sick plants.

The best advice anyone can give a Noob is to read.
If you wanna invest into this hobby, Buy a book on indoor growing.
Get on Amazon, there are plenty of cannabis books sold very inexpensively on there.

As far as lighting, don't worry so much about it until you're ready to put your plants into bloom.
