Indoor Garden Help

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could answer a couple of questions about indoor gardening things other than weed.
This seems kinda long so imma highlight the questions in red if you wanna skip to the good stuff! :bigjoint:

Right so my mum really loves gardening and she likes all sorts of exotic plants and flowers so I thought I would buy her a grow tent setup for Christmas to do it in as we live in cold, wet shitty England.

Oh and I work in a grow shop so I get wholesale price on stuff, and know how to set up a regular grow fine so equipment supply isn't a problem.

I will be getting a 240mm x 120mm Secret Jardin tent, Ruck 125L & Ruck 150L extractor fans run through an SMS Smartcontroller

I was wondering firstly if lux/light spread is such a big issue with other plants than MJ, dunno whether to go 2 x 400W Dual Spec HPS instead of 2 x600W? Or even just a few 250W CFL??

I don't want there to be any moving lights around and changing bulbs, just simple 2 Gold Star air cooled hoods on rope ratchet hangers, or not even air cooled if CFL.

Also I don't know whether it would be best to build 2 big wooden floor trays with high sides and fill them with soil or to supply many individual pots? I will have little ones for germination and potting on obviously. There will be most likely flowers, bulbs, dwarf fruit trees, anything that grows in warm climates really I guess, are different types of soil for different plants going to be much of a concern, and can you grow the kind of things listed in regular pots?

Is there anything anyone with experience would do different for indoor grows of other plants than bud?
I know there's a lot of questions in there, thanks to anyone who takes the time to read it!

Most houseplants are not sensitive to light schudles , So you can most likely ditch the tent , then without a tent you can eazly getaway without a fan

Im not sure about the light spread but most indoor gardeners do not like to run MH / HPS becouse of the costs of electric, humming balasts, and heat issues . I like the 4 by 2 tilles with 8 flourescent tubes , they look very neat compared to CFL's . They also fit nice and neatly on a shelveing unit

Thanks thats exactly the kinda stuff I wanted to hear hadn't even thought about not keeping strict lighting schedules, it will be in a garage/shed building so I won't even get a tent, saves a good bit there.

And yeah I know those 8 tube flouro units we have them at work, but do you think they'll be strong enough to simultaneously grow different height plants?
I know most CFLs should be pretty close to plants or there's too much light loss, but my friend has that unit in his 2x4x3 for veg and it works pretty good IMO, however I'm looking at covering double that height. If its not in a tent it will be against the end wall still covering the same space 2.4m x 1.2m, (about 8' x 4').
Also low temperatures may be a concern.

With regards to the shelving did you mean shelving in the grow space or like storing them, I didn't get what you meant probs cos i'm high but could you elaborate?

I have grown some tomatoes in a AeroGarden (The product called AeroGarden and not the Aeroponics) and I got tomatoes.
