I am considering a grow room for 2 plants and was wondering what a grow room without hydro setup or light would cost. I was thinking about making one out of a cabnet but the fear of how flammable wood is lurks in my mind. I wouldn't want to experience coming home from work to firetrucks in my street. I had an idea about making one out of a gutted mini fridge as this would be an excellent size and good nonflammable materials, and olso cheap, hell i can even get one used that dosen't work. tell me what you think.

Use an old cabinet. Check out my pics my cabinet is wood and held an oven. If you vent right the heat won be an issue. And if you organize and keep your electric straight with brakers and GFI outlets.

Grow cabinets/boxes and the cost are limited only by your imagination and ideas, I have roughly 300.00 in my boxes/cabinets which I prefer to call chambers (more techie) I am always modifing or improving and once you get going you will want more and better.....as far as material goes and fire hazards.....I only run lights when I\'m home and have smoke/heat detectors located within my chambers, if good wiring and common sense are used that should not be an issue.....on the fridge idea.....I also think a small compact or side by side would be a good prospect for a chamber/cabinet/box....the built in cooling and white walls are a great start.....whatever you decide I can tell you for a fact it\'s an incredible feeling and rush to see your babies growing and they become part of yoru daily routine.

K-town... The small cabinet has a 70 watt HPS I bought and modifies from a security light at Home Depot and a project box housing from an old cpu to house the ballast. I have diagrams somewhere.
The other lights in there are CFLs.

The big box is scrap from a home remodel(free), homemade doors, A 400watt HPS ecolux (or something kit@ $115.00us), the fans are rated for 120 cfms run a static flow and were $20us each(Lowes) and a homemade cfl rail w/ 3 100+ watt cfls for blue spectrum to help balance out the red of the HPS.
I have a small "puter" fan for pushing air around inside the box. A passive intake w/ light trap from the left-side bottom.

I can fit 4 well pruned (here is where differnces arise) individuals growing inside. A sativa/indica mix is recommended unless you possess LST or bonsai skills. Otherwise a killer SOG method with as many ladies you can cram into that clown-car alos works.

There is room for tinkering and room for hydro. I vent straight out through the top and into my air returns wich have a double ionizer buffer before it reaches the air handler.

I use dirt for this rig, but be wary where your passive intake is w/ dirt cause them bugs find a way in. You can also seal this whole thing up tight but that is personal preference.

If you want to see more like this I beleive VideoMan built a nice one for shits-n-giggles.

i remember long ass time ago my brother and i got a plant to veg over 4 ft on 2 flood lights from Ace hardware. i remember it now we had no idea what we were doin. i remember it flowering but very low yield like 8g's but it was inside an open room. this makes me think of the range different places this plant can grow.
