you can grow 50 small plants or 1 large plant, it is up to you. it just depends on how long you veg for. for your first go round you i would use any cheap soil until you get some experience and get things dialed in.

I have a 3 x 5 flower room w/400 hps and I use 3 gallon grow bags. I use the perpetual grow method. I stick to 6 plants, as soon as I chop 6, I move 6 more into the flower room and start germinating 6 more. actually germinate 10 and I end with up 6.

you can grow as many plants as 2 gallon pots you can fit into each room.

i wouldnt use just peat... if thats what it is... if it has perlite in it that would be good. otherwise you might have to get some to help with draining.
