Inline fan connected directly to carbon filter?

I have a grow tent that is limited in space, im wondering if it is OK to connect my inline 6 inch fan directly to my carbon filter, with no ducting. The air will then go through a cool tube then be exhausted

does anyone see a problem when doing this?

I am doing the same thing except I have like 3 inches of ducting if you count that ha ha...
I tested the set up by putting a stinky OZ of budz in there and I couldn`t smell a thing....
