I just bought a new iolite for my girlfriend last week and after giving it a try for a good solid week this is what we both came up with. First, its really convenient, small and descreet. It looks like cool small walkie talkie. And there is zero smell, at the most the smell is a light roasted popcorn so yea we can use it anywhere without sending out an alert that we're getting high. Its very easy to use and clean. And another thing that's enjoyable is that you can really appreciate the different tastes of different strains. Not sure about you, but when I smoke through a pipe everything taste the exact same (Burnt weed) and some people that like the affects of smoking just don't like the burnt taste. It doesn't bother me, but I can see why they would feel that way. Okay that's the good stuff, now lets talk about the not so good stuff. First, its takes me more weed to get high than it would if I loaded a bowl about twice as much to be exact. This is my first time to use a vaporizer and have always heard that it makes your stash last longer, I think thats great because I smoke very expensive herb, but not in this case. Also the directions say you can vape in about 60-90 secs. Yes you can but its very very light and you really need to wait much longer. So I tried what the pros suggested and let it heat up for about 3-5 mins. Then I grounded up and loaded up my herb.( it was not overpacked it was a nice loose amount ) then I let it sit for about another 7-10 minutes before taking my first hit (I've tried several way and this worked the best) Its give a nice amount of vapor and is enough for two people to get high. Maybe Im not doing it right, but I just don't really get that high. I take about 4-5 hits compared to my 1 or even 2 hits in a bowl with half the amount of herb, but yes I do get high but I feel that it takes much longer and its not as intense plus i use up twice as much herb to barely acheive what I would on pinch hit or pipe. Don't get me wrong. Overall i think its a neat novelty and if you have a few hundred bucks to blow then yea get one or just smoke at home. At this point I would give it a 6 out 10. only because I'm new to Vaporizers and really don't know how to use them or what to expect. Do you have to hit it hard and hold it in forever or can you just hit it like you smoking normal? I've tried both ways and it just doesn't do what a pinch hitter or smoking a couple hits on a pipe would do. If anyone would like to share their reviews, comment and especially detailed methods of using their own I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

As far as I remember (from learning to make a diy vape many years ago) weed contains various chemicals which combine to get you stoned. The precise temperatures these devices use may limit the elements released in the vapor as compared to burning, which could explain the lighter high people get when vaping. It is different and takes some getting used to, but personnaly I prefer the steadier calming buzz you can achieve (and that's coming from a loong time smoker with a preference for bongs...guess I'm gettin old n shit)

Thinking about getting one of these on Doctors reccomendation actually. He says he swears by it.
Anyone else have any feedback? My Doc says 45 seconds to heat up is the norm.

I've had an iolite for the past couple of months. I love it. Gets me super baked, you just gotta know how to pack it AND what butane to use. Vector butane is the best, colibri is also good... I wouldn't really use anything else, as they don't work nearly as well. When you pack the bowl, the finer you grind up your herb the more potent your hits will be (but the bowl won't last as long). So i'd say grind it up pretty fine, pack around .3 grams in there, and get ripped.
Oh and throw it in a cup, it looks like you're drinking soda and you can vape in public or in the movie theater

Folks I stand corrected. The iolite is Great! It gets me super baked. Here is what i learned. first It needs to be grinded up really fine. My aluminum grinder that has hole in it didn't do the trick the herb is still to big. I bought a cheap plastic one that practically turns my bud into powder. Then I only put about 1/3 of the herb into the iolite. I let it heat up and cycle twice then its ready. Also the key is to inhale as if you were taking a long soft breath. Then I let it cycle one more time before taking another hit. Everyone I know loves it. The smell is like toasted popcorn if that makes sense...Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know that I figured it out and now I would recommend to anyone. Its worth its weight in gold...

I've been using mine about 6 or 8 months now 3x a day. Here's what I have learned:
Having trouble lighting it or think its not hot enough? Purge all the air/butane and refil (press refill valve in with pen till all air is gone)
Don't screw the mouthpiece in too tight, the plastic will break (even if you have the new version with metal threads like I did) headshop had a new one though for 8 bucks
Clean it! I was starting to think mine sucked and it was sucking. I dissassembled it and soaked it all in alcohol and salt, it got most the res off but then I sprayed it all down with carbuerator cleaner and that worked awesome. (rinsed real good after that) It is awesome again, getting nice huge clouds of vapor once again I love it so much.
Use a whip with it! I got a 12" peice of silicone tube for like fishtanks or something I dunno, just hooked it to the mouthpeice and I have a wonderful whip now. Before I was burning my tongue!

I got one of these and love it,once I learnt how to get the best from it which took about a week.Couple of tips fill the bowl right up,dont pack it to tight then make a hole in the herb so the heating pin slides into it nicely without compressing it as you put the top back on.Also when the fuel can your filling from starts to get low,dont shake it up before filling,you get a better fill(pressure)because of it.I just hope it lasts given the price.
+ I use ordinary small pipe screens that i cup to fit,but I put them in with the bulge facing out then the retaning clip,its cheeper and works the same.

When the Iolite first turns on, it will start heating for between 30 and 45 seconds. Once it finished its first heating cycle, it's ready to go. However, I usually wait for one or two more heating cycles after that just to really make sure.

Been using my V2 ilote for 3 months. Honestly this thing has changed my life. Firstly I have asthma and I was just a few short months ago thinking I may need to quit my favourite pass time! Spliffs/Bongs/Waterfalls/buckets/pipes all of them left me very tight chested afterwards really spoiling the buzz. Then I discovered the Iolite! I have not used my inhaler in 2 and half months! wow!! I get absolutely baked every night! Weed lasts me ages! It does not smell so at night I can sit in my lounge and have a crafty one while having a bit of Xbox time without stinking the place out or alerting anyone to my sneakiness! I do not stink after smoking it and I have no dangerous chemicals all over my hands or body so if my child did wake I do not need to strip down and wash myself before seeing to them! That said I would always swig a bit of water and wash my hands quickly just in case! I cannot even put into words how much my lung capacity has improved since using it! So a few things I have learnt from using it.......You cannot just have a "sneaky one" before seeing any straight people because you look and are toasted! You need a good half an hour to get the best from it. Do not leave it on the side unattended as it does then start to emit a marijuana smell if not inhaled! Different herbs seem to take shorter/longer this is pure trial and error! If you want to get absolutely fubar then have two back to back...OMG...the 2nd takes much less time as the iolite is warmed up and you just get toasted! Its a creeper 10mins after you feel a bit light headed then give it 20 mins and you are a mess! Do not put it away in its case till it has completely stopped! Buy the extension pipe, expensive but worth every penny, it's like sucking in cold air that gets you stoned. The new V2 gauzes are a waste of time chuck the one that comes with it and stick with the "6 shooter" ones. Get a pack of the 6 shooter and rotate them. The best thing I found for cleaning them was soaking them for a day or two in water then use a new spare electric tooth brush head brings them up great. At the ridiculous price people charge for the Gauzes yo get the most from them by rotating them as described above. It is vital you clean your iolite one every two weeks if like me you are using it 1/2 times a day. This makes the most of your weed/gauzes/gas and makes sure you are getting the best high possible. Things I think iolite could improve on....A refill meter on the side for the butane so I do not run out in the middle of a smoke! A clear filling chamber so I can see when it is finished! Apart from those two things I am totally happy so my rating 9.8% out of 10....I hope this helps just one person too buy an Iolite!
Just a fair warning for those considering purchasing an Iolite. They have horrible customer service and their units don't work at higher altitudes. They don't mention this at all on their website nor do any of their merchants. I purchased a WISPR only to discover that it didn't work. I had to ship it back to Iolite at my own expense, and after 6 weeks -- yes 6 weeks and tons of calls and emails -- they sent me a replacement. Of course, this unit didn't work either. I finally got someone on phone who told me they knew these didn't work at my altitude (I live in Denver, 5,000 feet above sea level, certainly not Mt Everest). My butane lighter works fine, even at 10,000 feet, so go figure. After sending 2nd unit back and another 6 weeks, I get a message that "the device works fine." No shit Sherlock, you are testing it at sea level. So now they refuse to refund my money, instead offering yet another replacement unit that I know will not work. It's really pathetic customer service.
