Irish Grow Journal

Hi Folks been lurking here for a while. This has to be the best site for information on growing on the internet.

I decided to start a grow journal, this is my first grow from bag seed White Widow that a friend tried to grow but never checked for males
until it was too late. Any hoo, I germinated 5 seeds and one turned out to be female. I have clones taken so I should have a steady supply of girls.

Right the basics- My grow is an Indoor cfl grow in my shed. I built a closet it's 5 ft wide x 2 ft deep x 6 ft high, the walls and floor are painted matt white. I have a small room fan for air and a bathroom extractor to take out the smell and stale air. The door of the closet is black/ white plastic velcroed for a nice light proof seal.

The seeds were germinated in a cup with a little water until they cracked and showed their tails. I then transfered them into slightly damp composting soil.
They broke through the soil on 9/4/2012. I have been vegging the plants under a Secret jardin 2 x 75 watt TNeon , 4 x 58 watt 5000k florescents and 13 x 23 watt warm whites.
I waited until the plants were 4" high with second node growth before I started nutes. I have been feeding them advanced nutes dutch formula, I mix 8mls of part 1, 8mls of part 2 and 4 mls micro into 5 liters of water. I only feed every second watering.

I vegged the plants until 20/06/2012 1 out of the 5 plants turned out to be female. I knew this because of the small pistils on the girls and the little balls forming on the guys, i moved the males outside to be sure to give them extra vegging and sure enough they are guys, so my friend took them for hash.

I left my girl in darkness for three days after a flushing and have started her on 12/12 on the 24/6/2012. I took some pictures of my girl and room, excuse the quality I took them with a phone. I was surprised how big my girl got while vegging under cfls I think my next grow will be a scrog. Any advice from you experienced growers would be greatly appreciated especially when it come to feeding while flowering. Thank you for reading, I will try and keep this updated a regularly as possible.

Hi folks just a quick question to anyone that can help. I'm currently flowering under 13 x 23 watt soft white cfls each bulb is supposedly putting out 1400 lumens.
I also have 4 x 58 watt 5000k 6ft floro tubes in the grow room, would it be more benificial to swap out the 5000k tubes for soft whites @ 2500k. Or should I leave them in.
Any advice would be appreciated, this is my first indoor grow.

Hi ruudong , no updates yet my female white widow is still flowering as of 24/6/2012. My clones look healthy I have them in a propagator. When they root i'm going to try a scrog grow.

Hi all not a lot to report. My girl has been flowering for 4 days now, my temps have been holding at a stable 25 degrees/ 77 fahreheit. There are lovely long pistils popping out everywhere.
I havent been able to test humidity, no meter but it seems sound.

man thats some amount of cfl's, ditch em and get yourself a real light you wont regret it.

You're using over 500 watts you would get way better results with a 400 watt light and would cost less to run.

Hi gogsyc, I intend to get a proper system. Would I have much trouble with heat though, in such a small space. I need to keep the grow as guerilla as possible and can't have vent pipes, nosey neighbours and nosey wife.

Hi all my girl will be two weeks into flower on sunday 8/07/2012 and boy is she thriving, Pistils coming out everywhere. I changed my nutes slightly I'm feeding her 10 ml of grow, 20ml of Bloom, 20 ml of micro and a teaspoon of epsom salts in 5 liters of rainwater. The leaves are nice and lush but i've noticed the stems are turning red, I believe some strains do this so I've read here, will have to keep an eye on it. My temps are a constant 25 degs/77 farhen. I have to raise my lights every evening because she's stretching like crazy. She's 5' 8" in height at the moment and my closet is only 6 ' , looks like I might have to super crop. Anyone got any experience with super cropping? Would appreciate some pointers, will upload some pics at the weekend.

Well I bit the bullet, just checked my Girl after lights on and she had stretched another 3" overnight so I super cropped her. Never had to crop before as my other grows were outdoors , as a matter of fact never fed nutes to a plant either always used the soil, manure and rain water. It was a " touching cloth " experience or "Praire dogging " as you yanks call it every time I pinched and felt the gentle snap while easing each stem over gently. Whats the story with getting advice on anything here ? I thought this was the purpose of the site. Only for a link I found on someone elses thread to youtube on Super cropping I probably wouldn't of tried it. Thanks for reading I guess...........

Best of luck, I would give you some advice.... if I had any! I'm only on my 2nd grow so it would be the "Blind leading the blind". Also, I did enjoy reading "Touching cloth" comment but Im afraid, where I come from it means something entirely different, LOL

Or maybe you were referring to the "shitty" feeling of snapping your girl's branches. Lol

Hi all I'm nearly three weeks into Flower , my girl loved her super cropping. My temps are still steady and my humidity is 41 % lights on and 70 % lights off. I've decided from next week to just use parts 2 & 3 bloom and Mirco and stop all nitrogen. Going to do a mini flush to remove some of the nitrogen and salts that may in the soil just to be safe. All comments and advice welcome here are some pictures..............

good work with the super cropping. i did that with my plants also. makes a huge difference in gaining budding sites. the few times i have used CFL's before my grow im on now, the full spectrum for flowering worked well. though i did have about %25 more of the 2700k than the 5100k. everything looks good and healthy, keep us updated. :weed:

Hi all , just a quick update. 3 weeks flowering today and the girl is starting to get frosty. I have been giving only rain water the past 3 days to flush out some of the nitrogen that maybe in the soil. Starting new feeding tomorrow, going with 40ml of bloom and 20 ml of micro per 5 liters of rain water going to leave out the epsom salts. Is there anything else I should be adding for extra bang ? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi folks been busy for awhile , time for an update. Well my girls is now 8 1/2 weeks flowering under cfl's, I started the flush almost two weeks ago and only been giving her rain water.
The past two days she seems to be swelling and new pistils are growing , it's skunky smelly and sticky. I checked the trichs and they are still clearish, I nipped some bud and dried it, it smoked well with a great head high, I reckon she has a little bit to go, any advice. How long left and any idea of the strain, I though she was widow it was grown from bag seed that was thought to be widow.
