Is a 400 watt Sylvania light good?

Hey i was wondering If a 400 watt Sylvania light is good enough for 4 pplants? Or should I get a hps or mh?

Yes. 4 and more. This is from one of my first grows with the OSRAM (sylvania) I got a Home Depot for $20. There are many bulbs out there that are purported to have a more "plant specific" spectrum, but when you compare the cost vs benefit, I'd have to think that any difference in yield would be measured in grams.

hey buddy, you say Home Depot carries HPS/MH bulbs???

you wouldn't happen to know if they have any S55 compatible bulbs would ya?

im actually buying one this weekend cuz my hps bulb blew out ive been flowering with mh only for 4 weeks,my friend has the sylvania from HD with great results,for the $ you cant beat it,i think you might lose a couple lumens but not enough to make me wanna spend $90 on a light bulb

If by S55 you mean "Mogul Socket" yes, at least around here they do. Lowes does as well. Around here they carry both MH and HPS bulbs up to 400w. I got fucked when I switched to 1Ks. But I found a reasonable source for them locally as well.
You can buy complete HID units up to 250 watts as well.

Damn, they've gone up. Before I got popped, they were $20!!!! They've gone to Phillips as well. Same thing tho....
