Is autos worth topping?

Whats your experience topping autos? Are they good or bad? Have you ever had an experiment were you have a topped auto vs just an lst auto? Lets say you have an autoflower that takes about 11-12 weeks from seed to harvest, and the plant reaches a maximum hight around 70-80cm. Where the veg time is 3-4 weeks in the entire growth cycle of the plant. What would you do? Top it and do lst or just lst. If it is recommended to top, how many additional grams can you expect to get just by going that extra mile to top it. Theres so many mixed meanings of this I feel like i’m going a little crazy wondering what to do

I do both, top and LST… not sure the gram increase. I do know that I grew a tent au naturale (no top or LST) and was disappointed with yield. Quality was top shelf though

Topping works fine on most autos. I’ve done it purposefully and accidentally several times and never had an issue. With that said, considering the short life span of an auto, I prefer and have had the best success with LST. I’m a couple weeks from harvesting a few autos and found this time around that simply spreading the branches out, really low impact lst, produces some really bushy specimens. I’ve been more aggressive in the past, though my sense this time is all the daily twisting and bending was no more productive (and maybe less so) than simply spreading the branches as they grow to make room for new shoots. Overall, autos are more resilient than is often rumored. Have fun. Good luck.

Here's a RQS Mimiosa auto at day 80 no topping with only a few fan leaves pulled to slow down different colas....well over a lb dried from her. Got 3/4 lb from the Fat Bananas she's crowding on on the left....top colas from them have been harvested already in this pic20240621_104439.jpg
