Is this overkill?

Hey riu, I'm running a bubbleponic setup in a 3'x2'x8' closet with 20 cfls ( 12 2700k & 8 6500k, all 26 watts). Just from looking at my lighting arrangement, would anyone say that this is overkill? It seems like it could be, as I've never seen anyone use this many lights in such a small space, but I figured I'd try it this way, since Lowe's had 26 watt bulbs for hella cheap.

I should be ok as long as it doesn't get too hot in there, right? (I have a fan exhausting the heat out through a hole cut in the door) Any advice is appreciated, I'd like to have some input before putting my seeds in.

you need to get those lights as close as possible for them to really be effective, do you have the ability to move those lights pretty easy? The reason people dont do so many small bulbs is cuz its a pain in the ass to some people that they dont consider worthwhile, you should be adjusting your lighting daily to suit your plants growth so you can keep them as close as possible which is very important with smaller cfls especially.

No over kill there, like jfa916 said just make sure it dont get to hot.I use a big 250w cfl with 8 20 watters all around.Your plants should like it in there.

Yeah, I can adjust all 3 fixtures that I'm using, they're all on ropes attached to pulleys fastened to the ceiling. So I should be good with just the overhead lights lowered, right? (the overhead fixture can be lowered to within 1" of the top of the res, right between the other 2 fixtures) The side lights are primarily there because theoretically, it should provide supplemental lighting to the lower foliage when the plant gets taller/bushier. Does this sound about right?

That sounds fine, the sidelighting probally wont help much till they get a bit older though. use a combo of fim and tying the plants down so they are exactly where you want them.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but I wasn't trying to rush things when building my setup, seems to me that usually when people mess up a grow, it's because they got impatient and rushed into things... anywho, updates...

On the left, I've got two White Rhino plants, and the other 2 are Snow White, all feminized from Nirvana. They are 4 weeks into veg, LST'd for 1 week. Everything seems to be going smooth, though I do have several questions...

1. To anyone with experience with either of these strains: Is there anything that seems wrong with my plants development compared to the results you got when dealing with this/these strain(s)? There doesn't seem to be any nute deficiency, but that is only to my relatively untrained eye... the lights were raised so I could photograph the plants... oh, and sorry for the pic if it displays improperly, I'm doing all of this from my cell phone, and it's really tedious...

2. Is the amount of, erm,"fingers" on a fan leaf indicative of ANYTHING, whatsoever? I've heard that seven is normal, and that less than that is bad, but I hear conflicting information on whether having 9 is a good/bad thing. All of mine have leaves with 9 fingers, and one even started making leaves with 11... :-?

I think I'm gonna start flowering next week, I'd like to do any major adjustments I might have to make before then... thanks in advance, RIU

I don't have any experience with those strains, but that is looking good. Nice dense, green growth! Good idea also to switch to flower soon, it's going to get really packed in there after the stretch.
